Anything special with a Lexus SC 300??

Some douche tried to race me this morning. He had an aftermarket exhaust and maybe some other goodies...I really hate street racing so I didn't pay much attention to him. Plus, had the wife in the car with a fresh cup of D&D coffee...didn't really want to spill it everywhere.

Kinda pissed me off when I wouldn't race, he gave me the "thumbs down" in his sunroof. F'ing ricer!

The last generation (from the 90s) SC is RWD with 2XX HP..

They are popular to drop the Supra TT engine into and make 8XX HP...

So.. it's possible he could have whipped your butt. there is no way to know without popping his hood.

I don't know about the new SCs.

It's better not to race.. I hate ricers.

It didn't seem that fast...I probably could have taken him, but there isn't much benefit to street racing. I was just curious as to what it had.

the sc 300 which the last one they made was 99 i think are slow as blz. you would of beat him no doubt. but the new sc400/430 are pretty fast i did race a convertible and it was dead even. both stock.

Not if it had a Supra TT swap.. which are fairly common (at-least in Miami)

Anyway my guess would be it was one of the 200ish HP ones.. if so then you would have won.

I had a guy in an old pontiac bonneville try to race me today! After I stopped laughing, I thought about it. Some guys want to race, regardless of what they drive.Not to be arrogant, but maybe he was jealous or just wanted to see me take off in front of him.Maybe deep down, EVERYBODY wants to race! The people on the streets that do it are just idiots!

the solara is based on the camry. the SC was i believe based on the toyota Soarer which wasnt sold here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_SC

the IS is the lexus version for the toyota altezza. which is not real popular in the US because they're only made in japan

Lots of possible mods for the sc300 which has a supra based motor suspension. Very possible if he wanted to race...it was modded. As stated before, stock....slow.

Dont sleep on that Is 300, while it may not be popular, it comes with a 2jz engine which if i'm not mistaken is in a supra and i hear that motor has ALOT of potential

SC300's can be fast, but i guess i'd say that because i own one. A very popular mod is to put a turbo on the stock engine and or add a 2jzgte (supra)engine pretty fast. The scary stuff comes from the "older looking/rich guys" you'll find the v8's when they are supercharged or twin turbo charged are fast on levels that super cars would dream about. check out clublexus.com

SC300's can be made into rocket ships (talking sub 10 second 1/4 mile).

Not uncommon for the owners to go for a slightly modded look, but make it an all out killer.

Also, not uncommon for someone in a stock 5 speed SC300 to think it's a fast car ... but it's only mid 7's 0-60 car.

In short, it was probably nothing, but they have killer potential.
