Anything GOOD about the EX35 AWD Journey ?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

All you EX35 owners out there !!! Do any of you EX35 owners have anything GOOD to say about this crossover because I'm supposed to get my 2010 EX35 AWD Journey in Dec. 09' but now I'm not sure if I should go a head !!!

I've heard all bad news like the Dunlop tires suck, high pitched noise on acceleration, engine groaning noise, etc. !!!

If you have any good news about the EX35 please let me knopw about it now before I buy this crossover !!!

I have owned the EX35 for the past 5 months and have not experienced any problems. I always get compliments on the styling and I find the acceleration and handling supreme.

I have read some of the posts with the troubles people have had but I have yet to come across anything.

Tough call, there will always be lemons in every manufacturer. Its how the manufacturer handles the problems that makes your experience defined.

i've had the EX for less than 3 months and i havent had any problems...well other than my seat starting to squeak from the seat rubbing against the center console, but it's not that bad...probably my fat 180lb a** that's at fault it sure as hell makes my morning commute from LI to BK a lot more enjoyable, tho the truth is i'm not entirely happy with the sound system, and with w/e Bose Studio on Wheels Premium Audio System has done, i'm worried about ruining the balance with anythign aftermarket...ALSO there really isnt anything that fits aftermarket so...lol

alot of the prbelms youve read came from it being yr 1 production, and then some randome ones here and there. The most common problem in the EX35 for 2010 so far as i can tell based on Steve the tech's response is the ECM running hot and some wacky whistling or wheezing sound that they will be fixing, but is not really an issues as much as an inconvinience that is in the process of being fixed.

I've had my RWD EX for over a year and I like it. The Around View Monitor is awesome, and I like the performance (while still being a very smooth ride) and the looks. I do hear the high pitched noise at low speeds, but I don't think that would prevent me from buying the car again (and so far no one else who's been in my car has heard it anyway; only young people can hear the high frequency). I haven't had any problems with the tires yet. I think people tend to post things to forums when they have problems, but all the other people who are happy don't have a reason to post.

Finally, one other person with good news about the EX35 and you feel that the complaints are from the introduction model year 2008 and that most of these isssues have been resolved ?

So, do you think I should go with it ?

I've had the 2008 model for about 5 months now, and although the broken visor / steering column motor / fuel pump issues were annoying, they were covered by TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins).

What I do love about the car is the styling, luxurious interior, and the awesome engine and handling. It's seriously fun to drive. During vacation in Hawaii, I drove a Mustang convertible, but would actually have preferred to drive the EX.

Oh, and the defogger works amazingly fast.

I have the 08 model 2 wheel drive. This is one fun car to drive. I too, brought it back to the dealer for the recalls-repaired with one other problems. I started getting a pursating pedal, which turning out that the rotor needed to be turned. When I read here that they are allowed to be turned only once (dealer said twice) I requested a new rotor and the dealer agreed. That said I am pleased mechanically as well as the sound system and other technology.

That said, I am starting to regret the lack of leg room in the back. On that rare occasion that we put someone in the back it is uncomfortable. I knew that going into it when I bought it. I am also surprised that resale on Infinitis does not hold up well, and realize that a 1 or 2 year old infiniti is a far better value-but then I did take advantage of the 6 year 0% interest.

as far as i can tell? your main issue is space...i'm the only one in the car, or my 5'2 95lb gf at most.....so that wasn't an issue for me.

if you have a family with a big kid then prob not. other than that, I think 2010 doesn't count as a MY update, but they address alot of the other issues that 2008 had, that 2009 kinda fixed and now 2010 is smooth sailing (aside from the ECM whine sound...though that will be addressed very shortly)

so yea, if the criteria fits, then yes i love this car. btw, i'm in NY and i bought the Journey AWD.

gf's Q5 looks nice standing still, and Quattro is great, but it doesnt dart around like the EX in traffic. just for comparison

hope that helps

I've had mine since March, and have driven about 8k miles. Not a single problem - none. No groaning or whining or wheezing. Just lots of fun driving - took a two-day trip from Scottsdale to Chicago and enjoyed every mile, including the audio system which I find to be just fine. We've had a couple of slippery days in Chicago over the past couple of weeks, with lots more to come, and the AWD and Dunlops move things along without any trouble. So no complaints - I also have a 2006 M35 and have been really happy with that as well - so I'd recommend Infiniti products to anybody.

I have had my EX AWD for six months and I absolutely love it. I have had no problems with any of the recalled issues, in fact, just out of curiosity, I asked my dealer to check to see if my car was included. It was not. I am happy with the gas mileage I get 24.6 overall, however, I rarely drive in town. My drive to work is 25 country miles and I enjoy every minute of it. The hard drive in the radio could be a little easier to find music, but I have about 100 cds downloaded so I have to scroll through a lot of pages to find something. I have michelin tires, so far so good.

2008 AWD Journey Premium that I have had for a year.22,000 kms on it now. Love the car. No problems. Enjoyed a trip from Toronto to Florida and back last year with 4 on board. Worked great with a Yakima roof box to give more storage. Previous cars include Saab 95 and Audi A4s.

I know this is an "older" thread... I got my 08 EX Journey 2wd in feb 08. Besides the fuel pump, steering column motor and vanity mirror issues (all resolved QUICKLY by my dealer) I haven't had any problems I am going on 40,000 miles and love this car as much as the day I got it! I put a set of 20" rims with mich pilot primacy on it and am going to go back to the stock wheels until I decide on a new wheel / tire package.

With that being said, if you are looking for a sporty luxury hatchback (because that's what this really is) then this is absolutely the car for you. Nothing else compares in styling and performance in this class... just my .02
