What questions do you have? I'm looking at either the gt2871r .6X housing or the gt2540r with the .6X housing too..

Both of them have huge compressors

I'd like to use a top mount manifold too to show'er off.. The only top mounts I've seen are t3/t4 though (they make the .6X exhaust housings in the t3 format..).

What about the higher flowing/power gt2540r though..

I'm debating on weather or not the gt2540r exists.. There's a lot of contradicting information out there on the 2540...

I think I've narrowed it down to this:The gt2540r is the "retail name", and the gt2876r is the garrett part...

The specs on the gt2540r compressor map do not match the specs of the 2540r turbo?!

I don't know what to believe..

im going to stck with a lower mani. full race said they would make anykind you wont but it will be about 1300 thats just to much.

i was just wanting to sell how the turbo spools up on the ca,and hows the power range on the ca.but i will most likely be going with the gt2871r.i hoping to get about 350 to 400 out of my ca when im done.im going to use stage 2 cams, that turbo, somethign like 555 injectors (not sure on them yet).i already got the 255 fuel pump 3''turbo back, safc, boost controller.so i have a good start i think.i will have a sr t25 turbo that was rebuilt and has a adustible act.on it for sell when i get this turbo too.

man, youre going to want a stand alone, some 720cc/min injectors, some 264 duration cams and some forged pistons as well as shot peened rods for around the 400hp mark. thats just for starters. theres no way that turbo is going to fit on your stock manifold either, so an aftermarket one is a must.

good to see another CA in alabama though!...although ive probably said that to you before...

i was thinking i would end up getting a standalone before it was over.you dont think the 555 or 550 will be enough? and i believe the stage 2 cams that im going to order after the first of the year should be ok.yea i knew the stock mani would not work but im trying to find someone around here that can make me one.i really dont want to have to pay 1300 for a full race mani.but if i have too i will.anyways theres two of us around here that have the ca's i have one in a hb and the other guy has one in a coupe.his brother lives up your way now going to school.you might see him around town he drives dark red s14 lowered with gold rims with one black finder.his name his mario.we are trying to get a alabama meet up would you be up for it?

the GT2540R will not get going till about 5K rpm on the CA, cortina-mk1 is running the .86 A/R and doesnt get full boost on the dyno till over 5k, so the .64 will only bring it down a bit, i was also dissappointed about his numbers i think it was 348@25psi or something, that kinda boost on SR's with teh same turbo is well into the 400whp mark with the correct supporting mods.. i think his drawback was his intake manifold anda couple other things...

i thhink the GT2871R is a great turbo from reading and seeing dynoes etc. i would get the GT2871R with the .64 A/R GT25 turbine and run a Tial 35mm wastegate (welded onto teh stock manifold), i think it would fit on the stock manifold too, maybe a .25" spacer may be needed, if not get a SSAC turbo manifold. i think 550's would do till about 20psi and about 340whp, 660s for ~360 and 720's if you chasing 400 i think the max boost you would want to run would be about 22psi maybe more with some race fuel etc, i think there was a post a few weeks ago about someone whos friend used one on a CA with decent results..

good luck and rememebr when you reach about 320+hp and high boost, you need to start to think about your intake manifold and headwork...

things will start to get VERY expensive at that hp level too, take it from me

i might end up just getting around 350 and be happy but we will see.but thank you for the info and i will keep eberyone updated as i go.im going to go ahead and get it dyno tuned for now to get abase to go from.im thinking right now i might be at about 175 i hope.i have the t25 from the sr .80 a/r its been rebuilt runnign about 10 psi right now( waiting on front mount)have a safc, walbro 255,intake,and 3'' turbo back(greddy dp,high flow cat,and trust cat back.
