So I had my motor running for about 10 minutes and heard a loud pop(I thought it was a backfire). The motor stopped running and I had fuel spewing out of the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator. I thought for sure that the pop was a backfire from the motor running rich.

I ordered a new regulator 2 weeks ago and am just waiting for it to come in. I got a used regulator from a 300ZX TT and turns out they are the same(43PSI and bolted right to the fuel rail). I put a clear vacuum line on the regulator just to make sure and tried to fire the engine up today. I got ONE tiny pop and niothing else.

I started tracking everythin to find the problem....Fuel-check, CAS working-check, Igniter-check, spark-check, compression-check except for cylinder one.....NO COMPRESSION AT ALL!

I pulled the timing cover to check and see if the belt slipped and the CAS bracket fell right off, broken. the belt had not slipped, the marks lined up perfect....

I pulled the exhaust cam cover and the CAMSHAFT IS BROKEN!!!!!How the hell did the camshaft break????It broke between the 1st cylinder valves, check picture....Anyone got any idea how this happened, the timing belt DID NOT SLIP....

Wow...that really sucks...oh well, I guess it's an opportunity to upgrade. Figure out why it happened first though, that's really weird for a camshaft to break like that...

Something is wrong with #1 cylinder check the valves and look in the spark plug hole some thing may be in the cylinder. For some reason the cam could not open the valves. Check before going any further!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be pulling the head tomorrow to see what is happening. I am VERY confused. Do you think I should get some help from the supplier of my engine, if not FULL reimbursement??

Your car is NICE, I like to R32 Taillamps. Nice touch! In the magazine it says your install is 49 states legal, is the RB25DET legal or do you do something extra?

Does anybody know if the valves and pistons occupy the same space inside the cylinder? I ran a magnet around inside the cylinder through the sparkplug hole and could not feel anything in there.

Here is a shot of the camshaft out of the car. Broke right in front of the "journal" or bracket or whatever it is called, I cant remember, between the 1st cylinder exhaust valves.

Here is a shot of the head where the camshaft sits. This doesn't look normal, does it?

Well I found out what the problem is and it looks like the camshaft was bent, I cant explain it but you look at the pics and decide for yourself.

Ouch...that REALLY sucks now. Can heads be repaired like that? I've seen heads with screwed up journals/bearing surfaces/whatever you call the place the cam actually rests on and wondered if they can be repaired.

I have no idea if it can be repaired or not, but I have a mechanic who offered to come over & take a look. I will let you guys know. Grumpy, Mack, you got any used heads yet??? This really sucks!!!
