I was wondering on peoples opinion on keeping it totally stock. Im talking about leaving the SMIC and leaving the stock (KA) exhaust on with maybe just a downpipe. No manual boost controllers or anything. Just as a daily driver. Im really considering about getting a swap done but since funds are always a problem, just leaving it totally stock but want to make sure that I can still beat the ricer a roni around my town...heh...

Once my engine goes in, it will be pretty much stock. You can take a look at my sig for a list of the mods it has. It will have the stock SMIC and the stock exhaust. I have no doubt that it will be faster than the KA24DE that is in there now. With the currently totally stock KA, I can beat and/or hang with most of the BPU Civic's and Integra's that are all too common around where I live.

i did a budget install b/c of a blown KA (hadnt even paid for the car yet). I have spent far more money for trying to do things the inexpensive way.. but thats not your question.

So far I am bone stock. SMIC, Stock exhaust, except 3" DP & test pipe (exhaust on the way). No boost controler or gauges. It is far quicker than the old KA.. But with that much money spent, and that much potential you will never be satisfied with it.

woah! Im so sorry man, I just read it. If I get a swap done I was gonna get it done by my friends who has already done this swap many times. So hum.....I mean have you ever brought it to the track? Actually all I Was gonna do was get the downpipe and leave everything else stock. I of course want more boost but my KA has 192,000 miles and Im just like I need something new that will run more reliable than the KA. Im still deciding.

track is like 50 miles away.. and the car has never run well enough for that.

If you do it and keep it stock, do yourself a favor, learn from me, and do ALL the prep work.

1. do motor mounts2. get a new or resurface the flywheel3. replace the little things, hoses, plugs, O2 sensor

that'll elminate alotta possible problems

yeah actually I was gonna get the Spec Stage 2 clutch and resurface the flywheel/ replace the head gasket/ and replace the water pump. I was gonna wait on the rubber lines for a little later but thats it. Anything else you might want to add in? Do you think I should even get the front clip? I was only gonna get the clip cause it would have everything I needed like maybe even all the AC lines.

you have a 92? then you dont need the SR's lines or compressor. when you pull your KA, you can unbolt the compressor without depressurizing the system.

Then the KA compressor will bolt up to the SR (only two bolts, but it holds.)

Mine is not done yet but it's getting pretty close all I need is the igniter. Guess I should have done more research before buying from cartune. I don't know if it is worth it for me, but maybe it's just cause I got the engine from cartune. It's mostly stock nothing special.

What difference does the mines ecu make. Can you feel anything when you put it in.

ive never had the stock ecu. Mine came with the MINES ecu. The ecu does fule curves and cuts the speed limiter... thats what i have noticed.

Lets say I go with a stock motor but how hard is it to add in a FMIC and get rid of the side mount?

Is it correct that the SMIC is only good for 7lbs?

I was gonna put in the stock motor for a year but I dont want to find out it was a Pain to add in aftermarket parts.I was just gonna have the downpipe and maybe a BOV but thats about it for stock?

Did your stock motors feel really slow with only 7lbs? Most of the cars I rode in had at least 14lbs and I can only say MovingViolations (Paul's) CA18DET with 23lbs was the best so far lol

When it comes to speed it's all relative. I say stay stock and get a plan on what you want to do with the car. Do you want to drag, road race, auto-x, etc. If you just want a quick street car just basic bolt ons and boost you will be

I have a stock CA18DET with a MINES ecu. There is no rev limiter or speed limiter and there is diffrent ignition and fuel curves.
