The only thing I don't like about CF hoods it always looks weird having a black CF hood on a red or blue car. But I imagine the weight reduction is more important the aesthetics.

yes this is possible but isn't the point of CF also to show off its Carbon Fiber, kind of like chrome or stainless steel??

and I am officially retarded.

yea, cf is really a waste in my opinion. The weight saved from a cf hood is maybe 10 pounds, which isn't gonna make any difference, anywhere. So the only real point would be aesthetics, and I think cf is a bit played out in the car world at this point...

I guess if some one really wanted a custom hood they could go to shop, or do it themselves.

You will see one in a couple of months from ED. Its a carbon fiber hood with workable vents.

Na, not cowl induction, just straight vents. I'll let Vince tell you about them, don't want to give away his secrets!

Yes, Blake is correct.

Sooner or later its going to be posted, so I mine as well let you guys in too. The picture is just a rendering on how the vents were going to be layed out. So don't mind the paint in the picture, the final product is a full carbon fiber hood. Inside the vents are meshed as well if anyone was wondering. Once again this is just a rendering. The final product will look 10x better.

Drool... something like the cowl induction on the GT hood in the middle of the Coupe hood up above would look absolutely SICK!

Im talking to VIS right now about using the 08 altima sedan hood. Could possibly turn into other cf hood options.

Something I've always wondered about...with the aftermarket hoods that have the huge vents in them, isn't it extremely likely that water can get sucked into a WAI? I know it's pretty tough to do it with a proper CAI, but I mean if your intake is right beneath an opening and it's raining out (even just a little bit) isn't hydrolock inevitable? It doesn't take much H20 to clog up an engine!

I like the looks of carbon fiber, I remember back when it started to be the thing to do when I was in high school and arguing with my mom about why I wanted to put a black hood on my car. In my opinion for street us it is for looks and a symbol that you can spend this kind of money on your car so it isn't paint to show it off, then for real race application is solely for reducing weight with no time to paint it so you can interchange out the sections if it becomes damaged, then for supercars it is for reducing weight but it gets paint to truely make the car a supercar having the best of all worlds.
