im looking for some 262 or 264s for my set of 270s . im starting to worry about them being a bit much for my goals since im lowering them due to cost and time constraints. if not ill use em anyways and see what happens .

I might be intrested in the 270's. They're a little longer than what I was thinking though. What is the lift on them? I need a big powerband. Hopefully the high comp pistons will carry me in the bottom end and then some decent cams and boost well get me through the rest.

Nahhh boys, I think he wants to trade for some performance cams straight-up! I don't think he wants money and wants stockers (could be wrong though)! Well Jon, I would gladly assist you if you want or Ryan could pay you if you want or Tim can square you away with his stockers. We're all eager to see if you really want to do this! Let us know........

What cams would be a good spec for a SC61 turbo & 720cc injectors? I know nothing about cams... I guess I should research them a little... any suggestions? (Cams or Research)

But if you want big power, I recommend a 270 or better with 10mm lift or better which will require you upgrade your valve springs and some cam gears for proper degreeing of the cams. But to be safe, 264s will be just fine.

Tomei makes cams in 256 (8.5mm lift), 260, and 270 (8.8mm both 260 & 270) durations for hydraulic lash (basicly stock) valvetrains and 260 and 270 for solid (need their sold lifter stuff, both as either 9.25 or 10.25mm lift) valvetrains.

Here is their CA18DET camshaft page in english.

Jon,

Mines are HKS units and I will be taking them out soon since my headgasket is letting go (some water in the #3 cylinder). So if you interested, let's do this before I throw in another engine.

Ok, since we're on the subject of cams, can anyone give us a little education? I understand what duration and lift refer to, but what do changes in these variables effect in the running of the motor?

Ex 1 : What differences will I see/feel in a motor running 270*w/9.25mm vs. 270*w/10.25mm?

Ex 2 : What differences will I see/feel in a motor running 260*w/8.80mm vs. 270*w/8.80mm?

longer duration means the valves are open longer for air to flow in and out, and greater lift means open further.

less lift helps at low RPM by increasing flow velocity for more torque but at high RPM it's harder to flow, greater lift is the opposite of course. duratino is how long the valves are open, longer you're likely to loose bottom end but gain top end flow. It's possible to actually lose some of your intake charge out the exhaust with enough lift and duration on both cams..

I'll have to pull 2 sets of cams from 2 different motors, so I got my work cut out for me. You pay for shipping to me and I'll pay for shipping to you. Email me at: [email protected] and I'll give you my home address.

Hey Jon,

If you're still wanting to do this, let me know now before I start repairing my woman's sentra. Once I start, I usually try and finish it the same day, so let me know soon.
