Let me try this thread again without the obnoxious wall of text.

Is anyone using Virgin Mobile and satisfied with it, or does anyone know someone who uses it and likes/dislikes the service?

$40/mo for unlimited data with 1200 minutes is hard to pass up.

In case anyone cares (lol, nobody) I did some Googling. There's some issues with poor customer service and rounding up (way up) for minutes -- like counting 1m45s as 3 minutes. Seems like that would eat away at the seemingly generous 1200-minute monthly plan pretty quickly, and with the $60 unlimited plan the difference between VM and Sprint would only be $10.

Plus, I really appreciate Sprint's support. They fixed my Blackberry in 30 minutes at the store after an update put it in a boot loop, and the replacement cost for a hardware failure would have only been $35.

So, it seems you get what you pay for.

I liked the other thread..... it showed exactly what you were thinking about each option.

It probably just scared everyone else away.

I have no idea about US telco's and plans.... so I offered the best advice I could.

Doesn't matter who you are with.... if you have one of these, you are a winner.

The only problem with any of the "small" companies is going to be coverage.

I'd hit up the forums and read about people's experiences in your areas.

The people that I know that have VM in the Tampa area seem to have great results.

Coverage isnt really an issue. VM has been on the Sprint network since launch a decade ago (I worked at one of their call centers when I was 19). Earlier this year Sprint bought VM.

Its the extras like phones that lag behind (not that I care, I always go one generation back for clearance deals), customer service, repairs, and the latest technology like WiMax/4G. And I'd have to move my roadside assistance coverage from Sprint to my insurance company or AAA.

What's odd is that itt seems that VM phones work in areas that Sprint phones don't. I kind of dislike Sprint due to their coverage here.

Yeah I think I had a couple spotty coverage areas in your neck of the woods as well. Just a few, but they were there. Up here in St Louis, AT&T is weak but Sprint is good (except at mom's house where nothing can get a signal), but back in Spokane WA, AT&T is decent but Sprint is occasionally spotty.

I was investigating using a Clear mobile 4G hotspot + iPod Touch 4G + Skype as my mobile phone for $55/mo, but then I'd be carrying two things.
