Flipping through old SCCs and I came across an install for an IC sprayer using T fittings, hoses and vegtable sprayers and the stock windshield washer system. Anyone have any luch with this? Since I will be running a sidemount, I think that if I want to see ANYTHING past 10psi w/o grotesque heatsoak, I will need to do something.

no2 sprayer maybe? they're pretty cheap for little ones (sidemount sized ones) off ebay... a friend of mine might be using one for his mr2, but we haven't rigged it up yet

as far as using your stock windshield system, it doesn't seem too hard... just get a nozzle or two and route a hose from the pump (in the stock water tank itself) to the intercooler... should be pretty easy:)

Supposed to work pretty good.. I've seen guys ghetto rig (DSM's) water injection off the stock wiper sprayer/resevoir... Oh the only problem with that is you don't get the instant temp drop running off the sprayer bottle as you do with something like Nitrous or C02... It is cheap though :)

Yeah I've also seen a guy I know using the winshield sprayer system on is SAAB, seems to work pretty good.

hehe

From what I hear, the sprayer works good. Especially on those hot summer days in traffic :pface Easy enough do do. Just use the pump for you rear window sprayer and get a washer nozzle.

But I wonder, with good ducking/venting on a SMIC. What kind of boost could you run? Wouldn't 10 pounds be pushing it?

i haven't read the SCC article you guys are talking about but i've never heard of spraying water "on" an intercooler but rather "in" it. And the CO2 or n20 is sprayed onto the intercooler itself. I used to be a DSMer myself and i've delt a little with these types of systems.

isn't the system on the Evo one that sprays water onto the intercooler?

Every setup I've heard of (N20 or H20) sprays on not in.

As far as 10psi from a T25 being too much, I will be using a JZA80 SMIC. That car can make over 350hp at the wheels on the stock SMIC, so I think 10psi will in no way be "pushing it";)

just get a CO2 tank if you are gonna use that kinda thing... but a far more cost effective solution is water injection, right after the turbo where the charge is the hottest, use 50/50 washer fluid, I plan on doing a setup on my car with a preasure switch so if I go over say 15lbs of boost it automaticly kicks in. 50/50 is great because the water has a high specific heat, and the alchohol has a low boiling temp... plus alchohol burns cooler than gasoline, and the stuff is like 99C a gallon

ice in the water bootle, and a valve to change it from the windscreen to the IC...

If you got your engine in a front clip from a 180SX, then it has 2 pumps in the reservoir. One for the windshield and one for the hatch. A friend of mine with the SR plumbed the hatch one to his intercooler. He was making 240 HP at the wheels on a stock SR with Mine's ECU and that water sprayer. That HP was measured on a Mustang dyno BTW.

Don't know for water injection. But if you are talking just an intercooler sprayer, just get a fertalizer spray nozzle at Eagle or Home Depot.

Good thread about water and alky injection. Just search the topic, and look for anything with posts by WDracing.
