I have an s14 with koni yellows and H&R spring. My car feels rather loose and rough even on smoother roads. I like being able to feel the road but im looking for something more to smooth up the ride. Im looking at the polyurathan bushings. Anyone tried them?

Anything eles I can try?

Dew it. Dew it now.

I have a Master Bushing set that's been sitting in my closet for 4 years... lol

But I also have a friend that has actually installed the same kit on his s13 hatch too. He has stock suspension and I don't. See sig.

The result: His car feels more firm without being stiff, much like a newer car. While my car feels stiff and rickety. The bushing get rid of most of those vibrations that most of us have gotten use to.

The Energy Suspension kit is the most popular, but it doesn't include the subfame bushings, which are the most important ones to replace IMO. You have to buy those separately. And I would go for the actual subframe bushings rather than the subframe collars. They both do the same thing, but I've heard that the collars can raise your car about a 1/4 of an inch.

Also... while I like the poly eurathane Master set, I am considering solid aluminum bushings for the subframe.

There are DIY installs in the 240sx tech section and a good review of the aluminum bushing around. I just don't feel like searching for and posting them now...

That would be an interesting road trip trying to carry a hydraulic press in the 240.

They are a nightmare to install and service, but well worth it.

I think both are very benecial. I'd be against choosing. Do them at the same time if you can. Why bother having your car down for 2 separate isntalls that you could just do all at once?

I'd go with all Energy Suspension. The Nismo bushings are just hard rubber, not poly eurathane, so they'll wear out sooner. The ES subframe bushings are only, like $20...

i installed most of the master kit on my 13 hb, i dunno where you guys got your master kits, but mine came with the subframe bushings. they arent a full replacement, they fill in the voids so they are no longer compliance bushings. i love mine, i'm fully satisfied that it is the first upgrade i did.

I have solid aluminum subframe bushings. I installed them the hard way i guess. Burned out the rubber, then used a hacksaw to cut the metal colars. After that I used a flat head screw driver (broke like 5 of them) and a hammer to bend the collars to be able to pop them out. Then I used a C-clamp to press those mothers in (were frozen in freezer and lubed up with silicone spray). It wasn't that it was hard it just took a long time. I felt the hardest part was putting the whole thing back in, because it had to be level and go STRAIGHT up. Glad that is done..

thought I would share that story. Oh, and I want to get the Enery Suspension master kit for my car too. I'm gonna get the black set, I have read that the black doesnt squeek like the red ones do. And the black is cheaper. I'm hoping it will im prove my ride quality like my subframe bushing did. I dont think it rides that rough at all like people say (Don't know if it matters but I also put some thin rubber walshers between the aluminum bushing and the car to reduce noise, ACE FTW)

Yea, I saw it in an install video they had them. So I went down to the store and looked. The offical name I believe was Neoprene walshers. Just lower the subframe about 1/5" inch or more and cut one straight radius. Then you cna just put them on quick and easy.
