I'm slowly piecing together my KA-T setup and I was wondering if anyone is running an EFI tune? They seem to be reasonably priced, and I have heard a few good things about them but am looking for a little more insight. I was looking into ordering the Daughterboard upgrade from them, because I don't want to send my ECU off.

I changed your title, EFI is electronic fuel injection. So asking if anyone uses EFI isn't gonna narrow down the results to well

It's also a good thing to include a link if you can.

Yes, I have an EFI Specialist tuned ECU and my car runs very well. Startup idle is a little rough, but I'm sure that is due to my iacv not being set correctly.

I'm running his 370cc injector and stock mafs tune, however I am still n/a. The car is quicker than a stock KA. I am very pleased, I can't wait till I add boost.

I have an EFI Specialist tune (740cc inj., Z32 MAF). I got it used for $150 IIRC. Like all pre-set ECU tunes, it was on the rich side, but nothing that the SAFC couldn't correct. The tune has worked great for the 2 years that I've had it.

So that you have real numbers and make an informed decision, here is the final dyno run (blue lines) with the final SAFC corrections to the EFI Specialist tune.

Cool man, a quick question,

Are those HP and torque numbers the limit of your turbo or the injectors?

Let's say you wanted to hit 400Hp, you would just need to raise the boost?

What size turbo are you running? 19psi seems like alot of boost for 325whp

T3/T04e, .50 Comp, .63 Turb, 57 trim. Boost spikes to ~19psi @ 4200 RPM because I run a manual boost controller with a 10psi WG. MBCs tend to cause some boost spike.

Boost levels off to 15-16 psi by 5000 RPM and HP peaks at 5700 RPM.

A GT2871R with a right pair of cams can make close to 400hp at the wheels with 20psi of boost..

I believe that, but then you've completely maxed out the T2, and have no room to upgrade.

This extra power was made just from leaning out the tune?? That's awesome.

I run EFI. I had it tuned for 550cc, Z32 with a Greedy 20g turbo running 14psi low boost and between 18psi and 20psi high for a whole year and it worked out really great. I did have some problems with the idle (very lean), and the tune was a little on the save side, AFR's @ 11.0-11.7 under full boost, but with my Neo I was able to fine tune it myself. I recently send my ECU off for a re-tune and just got it back with the new tune. This one is for 750cc, Z32. Same turbo and going for 20psi low boost and 25psi high on 110. As soon as I put everything back together I will let you know more about my new tune! Other then that, Khiem has been a great person to work with. He’s a trust worthy and good guy to deal with.If you have more questions, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the info dude. I heard that most tunes that aren't done in person are going to need some adjusting, so I defiantly planned on getting a SAFC to fine tune it once it's in the car.

For now I plan on running SR T25, 370cc, Z32 MAF on about 10lbs. Nothing compared to what your running but we'll see how it goes. Not sure what that is going to make number wise.

I'm guessing around 250whp with that set-up. You don't think that running with Z32 MAFS and 370cc is gonna equal out and then fine tuning with a SAFC would be plenty... If your going for a bigger set-up (300whp), I would recommend a ROM tune.

Yea man, the ROM tune is NOT perfect, I had some adjusting to do when I first got it... But hopefully with Khiem's new updated version for the S14's, since I was the first to get an S14 with 550cc injectors tuned, I'm really anxious to see how well this tune will run (especially idle :D ).

What do you mean by the Z32 MAF and 370s equaling out?

Let me know how it turns out. I am pretty much set on getting a tune by them because I have heard nothing but good stuff.

Well now that EFI has relocated to Switzerland looks like I'm going to have to go a different route.

I've heard really good stuff about them. But the price is what's making me hesitant. EFI was about half the price. Looks like I don't have much of a choice now though.

Telling you dude, Scotts tune is worth every penny. Its held 24 psi on pump 93 for me before. Its made 535 hp, and handled over 30 PSI of boost on a STOCK BLOCK(temporarily lmao, the rods gave out) for a while.

Yea my little T25 probably won't hold much more than 10 psi. If I decided to go with a bigger turbo setup etc, I would have to get it re-flashed correct?

Hmmm that's interesting. Hopefully I won't need a retune for a while haha.
