Hey all,

Just curious if any of you are using any additives for your FX.
Stuff like Redline fuel additive, Sea Foam, or BG engine oil treatment or other BG products.

I do read that some are way better than others, and that some people believe that most are snake oil.
I do read BG has a good reputation. Any owners use a product with good results?

Hey all...since I have had no responses for this question, I decided to do some research.
It seems that Chevron gets great reviews for their complete fuel system cleaner.
I opted to get Royal Purple Max Atomizer Fuel Injector Cleaner to run.
Its a 6oz bottle, and receives some wonderful reviews as well.
I am going to run this through a full tank of gas first...then try the Chevron TECHRON Fuel System Cleaner.

Not sure how people actually document it working, but one guy took before and after pictures from a camera scope of his cylinders and the top of the pistons. The Chevron TECHRON Fuel System Cleaner that he used definitely made a difference from the pictures. It was pretty cool to see.

I will report back if I notice anything drastic like better fuel economy or engine response.

Why do you think you need an additive? Are you concerned about loss of HP or just trying to "take care of your engine?"

From a performance point of view, in my 2004 FX45, with 110,000 miles, I found replacing the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and spark plugs made a noticable difference. You should search this forum for key words and then decide what priority to spend your money. Including a transmission ATF change.

Thank you for the help. It is for engine care and cleaning. I did try a search, but came up empty.
The engine has 134,000 miles, and has had regular oil changes. I just did a transmission fluid change, and spark plugs as well.
I just want to keep the engine running in tip top shape to make it last past 200,000 miles, as I love the vehicle.
I have not yet tackled the TPS yet, and will do that next. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

Every once in a while whenever i know I will go on along and fast hiway drive I out a bottle of Techron into the tank.
Proven method to keep the combustion centers cleaner and so avoid the summertime knock that sometimes hits high milage vehicles in warm sea level climates. ( I live in Florida)

I've experimented with a few different additives for my FX, including Tribotex, Redline fuel additive and Sea Foam. While some people swear by these products for improved performance and fuel efficiency, others remain skeptical about their effectiveness. Personally, I've found that the results can vary depending on factors like the condition and maintenance history.

I've been using TriboTEX in my daily driver for a few years now and I'm a big believer! My car has well over 150,000 miles on it and still runs like a champ. I attribute a lot of that to using TriboTEX since the beginning. It definitely keeps the engine smooth and quiet, and I haven't noticed any significant decrease in performance or fuel economy.
