Hey all,

My Z had a K&N air induction system installed when I got her. I'm not thrilled with having to periodically deal with/clean that nasty oily filter (and read on another forum that the oil can foul the MAF sensor) so I was researching paper replacement filters when I ran accross AMSOIL.

From what I read, these filters actually filter better and allow more air in than the K&N filters due to some high tech nano construction technique. I'm guessing the "holes" in the filter are so small that the particles can't penetrate the filter and are collected on the outside. The filter itself is also a permanent/cleanable filter but you don't oil it, just vacuum it once/year.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of them or used them. I went ahead and bought one (had to get a longer cone than the K/N that was on her - a EaAU6065). Depending on the response here, I'll let you know how it goes.

Post up your results and some pics, I am also needing to replace my K+N oil type element and am curious as to how well the oil-less filters work and fit.

Ok, so I got my AMSOIL air filter and installed it. Didn't notice any performance gain or loss (wasn't really expecting any... just didn't want to deal with cleaning and coating the K&N oiled filter).

Here is a pic of it side by side with my old K&N.

As you can see, it is longer than the K&N, and consequently has more filter area. This hopefully would compensate for any potential increase in resistance that this filter type might have.

It installed fine in my NA.
