Pros, cons, or just your .02? I was thinking about getting one for my ka24de stock engine only have an exhaust for now. Anyone notice more gains or performance?

Just need an uber clean mating surface.... My factory head gaskets and current are made by cometic. Also used them on my 17psi F20C

No reason for it. The OEM is sufficient for your needs. No sense spending extra on something you'll never notice.

I've got one on my KA, but it's built / boosted.

I planned on boosting but no just yet. But for yours boosted is it worth it? What have you noticed from it?

Cometic is factory so no difference to me, but if I were building a mild Nissan I would stick with OEM. I ran it on the f20C because I needed to lower compression on a budget and ran a 2.8mm gasket

You don't NOTICE anything. ONLY if it fails, you notice it.

It's simply a more beefy solution for high-hp engines. Mine required something more substantial than OEM: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/nico-p ... art-7.html

Yes, dress up your engine with a new cosmetic headgasket! :lolling: Sorry, made me laugh. But as it's been stated here, no gains or performance.

you need a decked head and a really clean block or decked block

the oem gasket tends to stick and leave nasty s*** behind

Clean = machined. As in, taken to a machine shop and decked.

I've used a cometic on a head and block that wasn't decked, just cleaned it and made sure there was no residue at all on the mating surfaces.

But as most have posted above, for a stock motor, even up to 250-300 whp, a mls headgasket isn't necessary.

How much can the oem headgasket handle?

i dont think u NEED a cosmetic headgasket unless u are trying to build a high compression motor or add some type of force injuction.. oem will work just fine even with force injuction to a certain amount of hp...

You don't just put in a new head gasket because there's a better one out there, you change it because your current one is blown or you are building a new engine.

If you "plan" on boosting the KA, just put in a Fel-Pro head gasket when your current one fails. They are known to last up to 400whp, but based on the aptitude of your questions you'll be building another KA before you get to those power levels.

Some of the comments in here remind me why I took a long break from this place. LOL!

You will be 100% fine with a OEM replacement, even if you do boost it...
