i gave it a shot red-lining it in second and trying to power shift it into 3rd, but no joy, the gear just wouldn't take.....am i the only idiot who has tried to do this? no worries, i don't kill my motor on a regular basis, just thought i'd give it a go.

actually i second that to being another idiot...lol

i power shift every gear specially when i race someone...i usually shift at about 6000 or 5900 rpms, its slips right in....and ive shirpped third already.....some times i take it all the way to 6600 but very rarely....

i think u might need a new clutch....how many miles on ur V?!?!

I don't even have 6 thousand miles yet. maybe i didn't let it rev high enough...or maybe i just suck and have worn out my clutch already. But i would imagine that i would have to REALLY dogged the clutch for it to be going out already right?

I was also thinking, why race a V?

Went to the local 1/8th mile track last night to watch some friends, its $10 to run or watch, I pull up to the gate... Guy: "Just watching this evening huh?" Me: "How'd you guess?".

Autocross definitley, drag racing a V is like trying to go running with your shoes glued to cinderblocks. You will eventually get there, but it aint gonna be anytime soon.

well if civics, sentras, integras, and corollas run on the track, why cant we?!?!? i mean, my best 1/4 mile tyme is a 16.7 so far, by next track im hopping to hit a 15.5 at least....and ill be sure to put up a video for those of u who doubt that.....so why make us people who are trying to go beyond the expenctations, set by others on the V, fell bad for lovin what we do....and i have definately done autocross with it too....oh man! way fun! with the new tire set up its way better....

adiaz: and i got 23000 miles on my V so i think i broke it in enough ...lol

I hate to say it, but if you want to make something fast in the 1/4 mile I definitley wouldnt buy a V. But as for handling speed in the twisties I am all over it. I think the V would make a better cup car than a drag racer. But that is my humble opinion. Besides whats the point of a race if it only takes 16 seconds? A race should challenge both the machine and driver ability. Not like I am in NASCAR, I can only turn left business. Like the 24 hour events that take place in Europe. Now that my friend is a race. Its too bad we cant have more "legal" cross continent races.

dont trip....i know exactly what u mean....but around here, we do it all...legally and elegally....and drag is one of the most popular....so i try it all....and as for makin it a gud track car, who said the fit is a gud track car....it has less power out of factory than the V and they are all over the track.....what do they usually do?!?!? swap the engine and spend tons of money on them.....what do u have to do to a V to make it faster??!?!? swap it and spend less money than a honda....just my 2 cents.....but yeah, as long as u dont have ur V for demolition....whatever u do with them is up to the owner....whatever floats there boat, or V...

im either thinkin of an engine swap to a sentra se-r engine with a turbonetics turbo boosting me up to 300hp+....or turbo on the stock 1.8 and porting it out to a 2.0, then flares, hood, trunk, and of course paint job.....and yeah, a short shifter too

Why port it to a 2.0? It shouldn't be much to convert it to a 2.0 from the Sentra with just connecting rods and crank I would think. Could probably make it larger than that fairly easily. I think the transmission is pure crap for dragging. The close ratio would be good for anything with turns since you can easily stay in the powerband. The fit is a good cup car because it so much lghter than the V. It may have a smaller enigne with less power but it weighs so much less. I'd like to see a centrifugial super charger for these.

Maybe we can appeal to the gods of Jackson racing and see if they might do a Rotrex supercharger like they did for the Fit. I ahve seen the numbers. 5lbs. gave the fit approx. a 40 hp gain. I would love to see something like that for the Versa. Oh and by the way, has anyone noticed how much room you would gain under the hood if you took out the battery and relocated it? Now I know how ZPI did their turbo install.

We need that Supercharger for the V bad! Then it would kick serious ***. Speaking of which, the V is NOT a drag car. It's pretty quick/fast from a roll though, hence, an autocross car, or as someone here put it, a cup car.

The V would KICK *** on any track other than a dragstrip.

That's where it shines, and was MADE for (besides commuting, storage space, etc).

***Dreaming about that Supercharger kit installed on the V***

lol i love racing my V on the freeway. there was some new jaguar we were doing 115ish or faster, havnt had a chance to max out my V yet, on the 57 fwy. then he made a wrong lane change and i went around him and he got stuck. and there was some night where 2 240sx's were racing on the 60 then they jumped on the 605 so i was behind them then after they jumped in the carpool lane i just took a different lane and ended up in front of them. then i got stuck with a RV to my right and a slow geo metro in front of me with the other 240sx behind me high beeming me. thank goodness my car is tiny. i squeezed between the rv and the geo and i just watch them still there cause they couldnt fit dont know if you guys would consider it racing but i was able to keep up with them..again going 110-115ish.
