So the new wheels are currently being bored out and will be ready next week so the hunt is on for tires. I really dig the BFG A/T's and had a set on my old exploder that went 70,000 miles without rotation. But there's lots of others on the market.

Tirerack has the Firestone Destination A/T's rated as their #1 off-road tire. Does anyone have any experience with these tires? Since she's only 2WD the majority of my off-roading will be high speed desert stuff. They are significantly cheaper then the BFG's but don't look nearly as aggressive. Any help is appreciated.

I'am running Firestone Destination A/T's on my '05 Pathy. I moved up slightly in size, 265/75/16, all I notticed was a slight drop in MPG (1 mpg) and a little less centered on the highway than the BFG LongTrails. The mpg prob was due to the size increase and the on center feel loss might have been due to the alignment I had done when I bought the tires (I told the guy I wanted max wear so he prob set toe at 0 deg. ). Other than those minor complaints I think they are the best combo of price/traction/comfort/wear you can buy. Great wear, I have a little over 20,000 mi on them and still have 2/3 tread left (just keep'em rotated).Ohh, and the noise level is unreal, they are sooo quiet you would not beleive they are A/T's. I bought mine for $112.00 per tire installed at a local tire shop. Plus I think they look good
