um as far as i know no one has had an issue with 'xs power' turbos. i can't speak for any others that are affiliated with ssac though. but someoe correct me if this is wrong. zy i have heard just about every bad thing you can imagine. but i have one of the tiny xs power straight t3's (.48 turbine, .42 compressor)... had it for a year and no problems yet. but i'd say if you've got the funds go with something better (maybe something with a warranty that you can get them to honor, or a company that doesn't have such a sketchy past, etc). chipped blade into engine = dead car... that happened to someone recently... wildmax i think? but he actually had a zy turbo if i remember correctly... not a xs power one. but i don't know of anyone that has this exact turbo right now. i have the littler one. and there are others with it too but i can't really speak for this exact one. but i have to say i completely planned on getting something better later on, from the start. it was just such a good price i had to do it. and everything has held up surprisingly well. but i knew that even if the turbo cracked in half or destroyed my engine, the price of the full kit was okay because the wg is good (same one bd uses) and the bov, well unless it is not functional, well it's not making much of a difference if i have a no name one or a blitz, or whatever you want for $200 plus. and i have other modes of transportation if my car gets screwed for some reason (and i factored it all into my turbo fund). if i was building the engine and starting fresh i would always go with something that i can trust. but it all depends on your budget and if you are planning on building the engine or whatever.why not just get a used turbo instead?what is appealing to you about this turbo? if the cost thing is the only issue and you are worried about the same thing everyone else is with budget 'new' turbos, then get a used one and sleep a little easier. if you're building the engine and all why the hell are you even thinking about something less than worthy of the build you are doing? if you rebuild an engine, even if you leave it in the completely stock form, using a budget setup is just blasphemy. save some money and break in the engine... then do something awesome.but yeah i have no idea what your plans are, or where you stand on any of this.
honestly i can't believe you posted this question though... you have a a bunch of posts under your belt, so i would have thought you would hear this a million times over by now. i've said verbatim what i said above oh just a handful of times in the last month or so.
one more thing though... buying stuff from ebay isn't all bad. you just have to plan on things not working out perfectly. and they won't, no matter where you get your stuff from. i have bought quite a bit of things off ebay to date and haven't got screwed over too many times, and also have a good running car. it's easy to get screwed over just about anywhere, not just ebay. but i understand the hostility because it seems to happen more on ebay. i don't know it's hard to back them up but i can say that my experiences have not been bad (especially for the prices), but maybe i'm just lucky so far. i got screwed out of a carbon hood by some *******, and ebay's protection policy is very sketchy, so i'm not really happy about that.
