I have a welding bottle of "pure" Argon that hasn't seen much use in the welder - and am considering using it to fill my Q's tires.

Argon is an even less-reactive atom than Nitrogen, so it should have the same benefits on the tire's rubber compounds and steel. It's a bigger atom than Nitrogen, so it should diffuse out even slower. Supposedly, it's used in some luxury cars, but I haven't been able to find any posts from anyone who has any personal experience with it.

Any comments?

Argon is heavier than air. I thought the point in using gases like nitrogen instead of plain ole air had to do with the weight.

nah its because nitrogen will have a smaller range of pressure between hot and cold, so setting cold pressures is easier to do, and also it wont leak as fast as air

ive never heard of using argon though

from the other interweb forums that talked about it... the main disadvantage of argon for tires is that it's just a lot more expensive...
