Anyone thought of upgrading the Harddrive in the nav???

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I wonder if it is possible to do this since the nav looks similar to a pioneer product and it is possible on that.

Any thoughts on the matter?

What are you trying to achieve?

The HDD is updatable if you buy the software key and take it to the dealer within three days to have the update service performed. It is a really interesting concept and at my shop we have yet to have anyone need a software update.

increase the music storage of the system .. people are upgrading the Z1,2,3, with 100+ gigs and are increasing they music storage. i do not with to upgrade i only with to image as well as if the software only looks at 9.3/ 10 gigs.

theoretically speaking i would just like to image the original and then pop it on the new bigger one i am sure the nav is on a separate partition on the drive.

I was wondering about this too. If it's not possible, an alternate would be to buy a 32GB CF card (approx. $100) and load your music onto that.

Unfortunately, my music collection currently exceeds 80GB so I'd prefer the bigger HD solution.

Welcome to NICO, robn!

Actually, the CF card is limited to 512 files if you have Nav, so a larger card won't buy you much (I have a 2GB card and it's got almost 500 songs on it).

That pretty much sucks then! Two methods that would normally allow you to store a complete music library in your car, and both of them are crippled

9 gigs of storage and the ability to store music on a 2 gig cf is hardly crippled. You can also use your ipod as another option, how much music can one listen to anyway?

Personally I think that it is great to have all these options with the EX.

BTW

I don't own an EX yet, but am in the process of selling my 2005 Maxima to buy one.
