I have been using VF Engineering for years and they make some good stuff. Replacing that Huge rubber lower mount would stop the MASIVE engine movement. This would make shifts crisp, braking better, and accelerating smoother. Installation would be easy too.

I sent VF an email to see if they would be interested in making a few mounts for us. http://www.vf-accessories.com/acc-mounts.php

Something along these lines would work Great!!

If I get any traction on this, would anyone be interested in this?

Wouldn't replacing the rubber mount also increase the overall NVH of the vehicle?

How would it help braking?

I haven't personally observed the mounts in my Versa but I would think you could stiffen it by filling it with windshield urethane. It was a popular thing to do with Dodge Neons. I did it and it improved shifting dramatically. But there is no need on the Versa as it's just fine and there's no shifting on the CVT to rock it around.

Sure you would pick up a bit of vibration. But you would also gain w/o that engine flopping all over the engine bay. Performance is always a trade off.

Braking in moderate to extreme conditions, you can feel the motor move around. Sorta like a 2nd thump after the bakes have been applied. This can upset the braking and kick in the ABS (for you ABS guys) or cause lock-up.

I have one of their mounts in my MKV GTI (actually, the dogbone insert in your image), and I have to admit the difference in shifts and engine movement while driving is much improved. The engine jumping around in the Versa is one of my least favorite 'features' of the car. It would be great if they had something, but I don't know how much of a market there would be for it.

Nice another VW fan. I had all 3 mounts in my R32 and dogbone in the SVT Foucs. I just sold my MK4 R32.... Still searching for the replacement. Wish they make a 4dr R32... Thinking Evo X to satisfy the AWD bug.

Back on topic

I would love to fix "feature" with a new dogbone mount.

Are you talking about the mount on the actual sub-frame to engine, points toward the front of the car. If so it is metal, I've seen one bent, into an "S" or "Z" maybe. Your probably right about performance for people doing autocross, wouldn't hurt to do the mounts on the top too.
