I'm thinking of driving from D.C. to WA state next month. It's not that I love driving, I just hate flying. Has anyone taken their coupe on a 5000 mile round-trip drive? Think I can make it in 2 days??

With a friend and an oil change... it can be done in 2 days... without sleeping... and keeping the needle past 100 for the whole time... whats the point then? take an extra day and look out the window! Im planning a trip this summer to drive from tahoe to san diego... rt1.. the whole 9 yards... just for the drive (wish i could do it in my alti, ill have to settle for a convertable rental)....

I'll be taking my Coupe from the Phoenix area back home to Boulder, CO tomorrow. Only about 800 miles (13 hours).

I'd allot yourself at least 3 days to make the drive from DC to WA. I drove NJ to CO in two 15 hour days once and it was very tiring.

Good luck on the drive and let us know how things go and what you think of the car as a long distance driver.

your stock 2.5 might be much more comfortable ride but I would not take my car on trips longer than 300 miles.... I have an 08 Highlander for that

The Alty is all I've got so it's either that or fly. I would normally fly but with all the news out there about unsafe airline and FAA practices added to my loathing of air travel make me feel more like driving. Plus when I'm driving I've got leg room... flying coach when you're 6'3" sucks unless you get an exit aisle and those are always taken by the time I check in. We'll see... something tells me I'm going to end up flying anyway... just not Southwest.

I hate flying. I dont think i would drive my car more than 1000 miles tops. I think a 6 to 8 hour drive to the beach isnt bad.

Last summer, I took my altima from Chicago up to Toronto, CA. about 1300 miles round trip. Back in the December, rented a minivan and drove from Chicago to Key West, FL about 3000 miles round trip.

The trip from Phoenix to Boulder in my Coupe (890 miles, 14 hours) was pretty good. Most of my route was interstate driving so I locked in the cruise at 84 and turned up the tunes.

Not sure that I'd opt to do it again though. My back is hurting a bit today, but I think that's more to do with sitting in one position for 14 hours than the coupe itself.

Good luck on your drive.

Eh, I bought tickets and a "get over your flying anxiety" self-help CD yesterday. 6-8 hours of flying (including layovers) vs. 36+ hours of driving... plus with gas prices it's not like I'd be saving money. I just hope my coupe doesn't get too lonely in long-term parking.

Although it is not an Altima - I bought my G "off" ebay and flew to Cali to pick it up and drove back to Baltimore last May. (Hence my user name). Wifey and I split up the driving - Took 40 East out of California.

Calfornia, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virgina, Maryland - in 3 days. Got to see the desert, stopped off at the grand canyon, Cadillac Ranch, etc.

Speed limit out west was 75 - so it was amazing to pass cops doing 80 without a second thought. There was never really a need to speed too much - even out east you can ride with traffic at 70 mph. We averaged over 26 mpg - which I think is great - considering. I got an oil change at the Nissan dealer in New Mexico.

I would never do it again in that short of time. I was exhausted - but that was mainly because I couldn't rest with Wifey driving - that is another story.

Aside from that it was amazing to see the country. Interstate 40 parallels Historic Rte 66 - the interstate also parallels a mainline of the BNSF railroad (I'm somewhat of a train buff). All this added to great experience !! I put about 2600 miles on my new to me 2003 - 8,000 mile creampuff.

Cadillac Ranch Armarillo TX. Wifey is on the left in the Pink. I had to get off the highway when I realized what we were passing.

Drove my coupe from San Diego to Fallon, NV, 600 miles. No problems. But worse gas mileage than expected. Around 23 mpg at 85mph

i know its not much but i drove my 2.5 from mississippi to san antonio earlier this week like 700 miles-ish got 33 mpg the whole time at 80 mph and only had to stop once for gas cause i started with a half tank, fitting everything that me and my wife were gonna need for the next 45 days was the real hard part.
