Although it is not an Altima - I bought my G "off" ebay and flew to Cali to pick it up and drove back to Baltimore last May. (Hence my user name). Wifey and I split up the driving - Took 40 East out of California.
Calfornia, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virgina, Maryland - in 3 days. Got to see the desert, stopped off at the grand canyon, Cadillac Ranch, etc.
Speed limit out west was 75 - so it was amazing to pass cops doing 80 without a second thought. There was never really a need to speed too much - even out east you can ride with traffic at 70 mph. We averaged over 26 mpg - which I think is great - considering. I got an oil change at the Nissan dealer in New Mexico.
I would never do it again in that short of time. I was exhausted - but that was mainly because I couldn't rest with Wifey driving - that is another story.
Aside from that it was amazing to see the country. Interstate 40 parallels Historic Rte 66 - the interstate also parallels a mainline of the BNSF railroad (I'm somewhat of a train buff). All this added to great experience !! I put about 2600 miles on my new to me 2003 - 8,000 mile creampuff.
Cadillac Ranch Armarillo TX. Wifey is on the left in the Pink. I had to get off the highway when I realized what we were passing.
