Another reason I'm leaning more towards an RB25 swap.

They just spent $7600 upgrading their SR to get 274hp to the wheels. With the price of their swap (they paid $1500 for the clip, then various items for the swap) the grand total for the engine alone is approaching 9 or 10 grand. I'll bet that $10,000 with an RB swap (including the clip) will get significantly more than 274.

One thing I will give them though; they bought a $1200 JIC titanium cat-back, which might be a little overboard, especially considering Project Silvia started out as a bang for your buck project, but it is cool as *****.

Yeah. They definitely spent unnecesary ammounts of money. If you sit down and make some calculations, you will realize that you could have probably gotten the same numbers with half the money. However I do understand their concern. They wanted to make sure that the engine is set up to hadle anything. Bigger radiator and an FMIC to keep it cooler. Injectors, MAF etc. to keep it from detonation.

What I am trying to say is that all that money they spent went mostly to parts that make the engine more reliable and to put less stress on it.

If they didnt spend so much money building up the internal components and upgrading various things, all of the stupid little kids who consider SCC to be a bible of sorts, will go out and do exactly what SCC is doing, and then try and run 25lbs of boost, destroy the engine and send SCC a hate letter *****ing about them not tellin the kid to upgrade to bigger injectors or something.

yeah they weren't just going for numbers with that car. they want it to be reliable, have instant response, and to look simple under the hood, which is why they went and made their custom intercooler setup and some other unnecessary things to quicken throttle response and reduce turbo lag. and they didn't actually build up any internal components.

Chaosnite...

Thank your girlfriend for me for pointing that out. I feel bad for her having to read all this useless info for her. I know my gf is into cars too, but she would never sit down with me and read all this...again, thanks.
