Anniversary red/black model with a crappy DIY paint job, a dead cylinder, and slipping transmission. The guy thought it was worth $28k. They offered $4k dependent on their mechanic's evaluation.

The guy walked away mad and accused them of trying to rip him off. In what world is a near-dead beater car from the late 70s/early 80s worth four grand?

lol. True that... people get so butt-hurt on that show when they don't get the exact price they were hoping for. Or my personal favorite: the professional states that in its current condition it could go for fifteen hundred at auction. And then Rick turns to the customer: "so how much do you want for it?", customer: "well he just said it was worth fifteen hundred so I think that's fair".

I have never heard of this show... sounds like Antiques Roadshow for cars or something. I guess I need to check it out!

Seriously. You're not getting the "at auction" price in a pawn shop dude.

Precisely, you're using a middle-man to get cash now for what you want to get rid of. IMO most of the people that bring useless crap into the shop could do well with an eBay account and plenty of time with Google.

They made out pretty well when they bought that Austin Healey 3000. I don't know of ANY classic Z worth 28 grand.

They got super luck with that austin though. Had a bunch wrong with it.

Side note. Going to Vegas the first week of August. Going to stop by and look around the stop. Got my eyes on that Reggie White jersey hanging on the wall :naughty:

Actually, it's not really about cars or antiques. It's about a pawn shop. But unlike most reality shows, the stars/hosts are actually decent human beings, so it's tolerable. Basically, it just covers the more interesting stuff people bring in to sell (or the more interesting people who bring stuff in to sell). A lot of times the shop brings in experts to appraise or authenticate stuff.

if it was a black and red 280ZX anni car...only 500 of them where made.

I think there were 2500 of the black and gold (I saw one in a junkyard a few years back...it was smashed up at every corner with rust to go with it)

I saw a 240z I think on american pickers, It made me a little upset to see it covered in dust and not being used at all. Looked to be in decent shape as well.

Exactly. And while you're watching you're so suckered into the humor that you're actually getting a history lesson too. It's a really neat program imo.
