I'm thinking of doing this for a little while until I gather enough money for the real thing. I will rarely beat on the engine and will keep it at stock boost for now.

Im running a ka24de radiator and some Altima fans (running full time) + watter wetter. Needle doesnt move past the middle, not even by a hair. Even without the fans running and the engine idling, it doesnt seem to want to overheat. I wouldnt want to drive without fans, however So far its been fine with the stock setup that I have, but I cant speak for those pushing higher ponies.

The only thing is that the gauge is inaccurate. Have you hard-wired them to run at all times, or did you set a temperature for them to go off at?

Wjat type of hose did you get to connect the engine to the radiator?

The gauge is inaccurate? This is news to me. Obviously every gauge in the world is inaccurate, but its enough to tell me whether or not its on the verge of overheating.

Well for my setup, I kinda.. eh.. "engineered" the coolant hoses. Basically it involved the bendable hoses. I am uncertain about how long they will last, but they work for now. Havent had a leak or a burst yet. Its only temporary for now anyways. I would like to eventually get a Koyo, but this suffices for now.

The fans are wired to come on with a 12v source when the key is in the on position. Once I find something fancier, thats my setup for now. I hate having the fans running full time, but I also hate having no fans on at all. Oh and each fan is on its own relay with a 30amp fuse, just incase.

I am not proud of my underhood work so far, but the car runs! Form after function is my route. Making it pretty comes last to me, considering its the car I use for work!

I think this is the route that I'm going to take for some time after the SR is in. When some more money comes in, I'll get the copper Koyo.

i just installed a KA electric fan last nights...fits great. i hooked it up to a switch. i haven't got to drive it yet, but it feels like it has a lot of power...this isn't my daily driver car anyway so it should be fine...let me know if you have any questions...

I've been doing a little bit more digging, and I've found that another good option is using the electric fans off of a 1990-1995 Taurus with the 3.8L engine. They supposedly work much better than the Altimas.

I'm not an electric genius, but it seems like the simplest route is to wire the fans to a thermostatic switch. I'll need to find out how to do this.

I have 2 12" electric fans $60 Ebay. I picked up a thermostat controlled wiring kit at O'reily's I think it was close to $30. Kit comes with all wiring, adjustable thermostat and fuses. Using a ka radiator it works great hasn't overheated at all and that is beating on it some with temp. at almost 100 degrees.
