I'm looking to get new tires for my Wife's rogue...

Is anyone using the 225/70R17 BFG All Terrains?

I've yet to see a real all-terrain on a rogue. We will be using it for snow, sand, dirt, mud, etc...so an all terrain would be great. I know this is not a 'typical' rogue use, but I figured I'd ask.

Maybe I'll be the first? :naughty:

Overall specs of tire is 29.6" (about 751mm) tall, and 9" (about 228.6mm) wide. The width definitely wont be an issue, but the height may be...about 50mm taller than stock.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks,
Shawn

Specifically the BFG All Terrain T/A KO

I wouldn't recommend these tires. They are 6% oversized... well beyond the 3% size limit recommended by most tire and vehicle mfg's. Besides the huge impact on speedometer readings, it may also affect the VDC/ABS/AWD systems.

Another concern is weight. At 43lbs each vs. 26lb for the stock tire they are pretty heavy. This will add a lot of un-sprung weight which will hurt handling on rough roads. The increased mass will also hurt acceleration.

As for clearance, that may be iffy. There 'might' be just enough, but you won't know until you test fit them.

None of these are show stoppers, but something to keep in mind. I can see the appeal of putting a big set of knobby tires. I loved the look of the Bridgestone Dueler A/T's on my '87 Pathfinder. But unless you can find a suitable size for the Rogue, I think the cons outweigh the pros.

For alternative 'All Terrain' tires, the only thing I've found that will fit is the Yokohama Geolander AT-S. It's available in 225/60R17.

Phillip,

As always, great info! The weight concerns me more than anything.

As far as the 'knobby' look, I'm after the performance more than the look. Last time I had the rogue on the beach it did great but was really limited by the tires. Those yokos may be a good median.
