ohh BTW, I see you've got an '06 M35? I don't think the JWT setup would be as "easy" of a bolt on with the DE's, but I think the HR's from eye-balling it would be a little more simple, compared to the DE's.

Pretty sure the intake assembly/manifold are completely different between the two...

from Wiki:

VQ35HR
VQ35HR

The VQ35HR engine was first seen in the US with the introduction of the updated 2007 G35 Sedan model, which debuted in August 2006. Nissan updated the VQ line with the addition of the 3.5 L VQ35HR (for "High Revolution" or "High Response"). It produces 315 PS (232 kW; 311 hp) (US market: 306HP using the revised SAE certified power benchmark) at 6,800 rpm and 37 kg·m (363 N·m; 268 lb·ft) at 4,800 rpm, using a compression ratio of 10.6:1. As of 2009, the Infiniti EX35 produces 297 hp and the same torque presumably due to tighter regulations. It has NDIS (Nissan Direct Ignition System) and CVTC with hydraulic actuation on the intake cam and electromagnetic on the exhaust cam. Redline is 7,500 rpm. Reportedly over 80% of the internal components were redesigned or strengthened to handle an increased RPM range sporting a lofty 7,500 rpm redline. A new dual-path intake (two air cleaners, throttle bodies, etc.) lowers intake tract restriction by 18 percent and new equal-length exhaust manifolds lead into mufflers that are 25 percent more free-flowing for all around better airflow. The electrically actuated variable valve timing on the exhaust cams to broaden the torque curve is new over the "DE" engine. The new engine block retained the same bore and stroke, but the connecting rods were lengthened and the block deck was raised by 8.4 mm to reduce piston side-loads. This modification, along with the use of larger crank bearings with main bearing caps reinforced by a rigid ladder-type main cap girdle to allow the engine reliably rev to 7500 rpm. With an increase in compression ratio from 10.3:1 to 10.6:1 these changes add 6 more horsepower (306 total + 3 hp ram air effect not measured by SAE testing = 309 hp). Peak torque is up 8 pound-feet from the older "DE" engine (260 vs. 268) and the torque curve is higher and flatter across most of the rpm range, and especially in the lower rpm range. The VQ35HR was utilized in rear-wheel-drive platforms while the VQ35DE continued to power Nissan's front-wheel-drive vehicles. In 2010 Nissan introduced a hybrid version of the VQ35HR, pairing the engine to a lithium-ion battery pack.

I am running the stillen Z-tube on my M35x. It was a direct bolt on without requiring any modifications. I don't recall what the pop charger part is but if it's the filter end then I believe it wasn't compatible completely but could be modified slightly to fit.

Zags has the HR with twin intake. Not sure if the z tube for DE engine would work... Secondly, you need two Z tubes if they work since you have twin intakes.

the M35's with the HR engine have twin intakes....I believe the single intakes for the M35 are the 06 to 07 (or 08)...not sure.

the VQ35DE motors on the M35 can use the Ztube (I have one connected to the stock air box)...as far as running the JWT pop charger, it might not reach to the front of the engine bay due to the amount of space the M has over the G35/350Z.

here's a link to photos of the set up - you'll see that the filter end will go right up against the grille/front bumper area, whereas the M has a greater distance....just my need to modify. I believe someone here installed it, it was the guy who sold his black M with the Vossen wheels and 08 bumper swap...can't remember his forum name.

If I recall, 'MSVARA' indicated there was another CAI system made that is more efficient at keeping cold air in....I can't remember the name of the company....

Twin intakes came on the 35s beginning 2009. Anything before that was the DE motor (single intake).

PRM intakes. He would make a kit for us if I make my way up to his place. It's an inline filter but draws air from the fender so you get CAI without the hastle of taking the wheel and liner off to clean the filter. Google the company. He's been around since the early 90s and recently got into some Harley intakes. I've had on on one of my previous cars and loved it. He has alloy trumpets that make a subtle whistling sound during hard acceleration which he could add at the fender end. All polished alloy and silicone adapters with your choice of colors. I don't know why I'm advertising for this guy he's not payin me squat!

Yes!! thanks MSVARA...I'd be in on the buy...let me know!!! since you're up that way, will he use your car to test fit?? On the site, I see he has the intake for the 350Z

Yeah he would use my car for the fitting. The 350z kit is cool but it's not CAI. With a short trumpet like that it would really whistle on hard acceleration.

Let me talk to the guy about costing out a custom for a group buy and get back to you.

Depends on the cost, but if he makes one that I may be in to buy as well. I really wanted an R2C intake,, but then that company never came out with an M35 model intake so I am looking for another model to go with sometime in the next few months.

His intake looks like it will be more expensive than people can pick up a "name brand" Injun intake though...

Yeah and custom may bring the price up even more. It's unfortunately this guy isn't selling gobs to be able to drop the price down or make a kit for each car. I emailed him with photos of my engine bay. Let's see what he says.

ok, I remember now...I also inquired about the PRM about 3 weeks ago...I just couldn't remember the name of the CAI during this thread...If I remember correctly, he indicated that he can provide longer tubes, but I would need a longer silicone coupler(s) as well. It's really hard to measure the distance from the throttle body to the front/lower portion of our bumpers -- too many curves, so if you're close by to PRM, that's even better to have an actual test fit :dblthumb:

I really like the design of the PRM due to the air filter being protected, plus it looks cool! Keep us posted...thank you sir!

Okay here is PRM's reply.

"Looks like the same set-up as the 350Z.

No..I'm not going to change the existing kit..when driving...ambient air is
forced through the hole & into the filter inlet...if a customer wants to
extend it into the bump area..they can do it on there own..simply put a
flexible hose into the inlet of the filter & go through the hole..Liability
issues with rain may be a problem thou."

So there you have it. If you have a DE engine and want to try PRM get the Z350 kit which is $275. I am inquiring on the trumpet attachment and the HR engines. Those that own an HR engine can you take a photo of the engine bay from the front and both sides attempting to capture the location of each intake attachment?
