I found a really good deal on a gt2530 and i am wondering if it is better than the s15 turbo. my power goal is ~300 rwhp and as close as possible to match the torque this car is a daily so i dont need crazy power but would like good response. i've searched all over but couldnt find out what psi is the turbo good for. if you have one please let me know your honest opinion of it

Pretty sure S14toRPS13 is running one. Contact him if he doesn't see this thread.

Yep, I'm running the HKS GT2530. It's rated at a max of about 320 whp. Doesn't seem like much, but it has a wide powerband. Mine hits full boost of 14 psi at about 3400 rpm and keeps pulling hard all the way to redline. From what I deciphered from the compressor map a while back, it's out of it's efficiency range after about 21 psi, IIRC. As for comparing to the S15 turbo. It's been a while, but I remember the S15 turbo had a slightly better midrange while the GT2530 has more pull up top. This is just a butt dyno feel though. The GT2530 is really suitable for the street though. Very good midrange combined with a topend that doesn't seem to want to quit. I'm happy with it even though it's not capable of 400 hp numbers. In all honesty though if I didn't get such a good deal on this turbo, I would've went GT2871R .64 just so I could hit closer to 400.

I can't tell you that it'll be safe since I've never done it or know of anyone who's ran that turbo without a tune. I suggest saving up for atleast fuel injectors and a tune, then slap on the turbo.

As long as your injectors/maf are running good, you dont have a $h!t-lode of mods and you upgraded your fuel pump you will be fine! You shouldent make more than 10whp @7psi ! I run my s15 gt28r to 12psi dayly and 15psi at the drag strip with 100 octane sunoco gas( I had my MBC set to 14 psi it creeped to 18psi and melted a piston 2 months ago, I fixed my creep problem and now it will hold boost no problem) on stock injectors and n60 maf. I dont recommend upping your boost as not every body has the same results! Post up A mod list so we can help you before you do this!

Well, my nephew runs 16 psi using a S15 turbo with no tune, stock maf, and stock injectors. He's been fine for about 2 years dd his car and occasional 1/4 run. I still don't recommend that though.

LOL about the global warming thing. I wish some of that global warming would hit WA. It's more like global cooling over here. It's the middle of June and we still have seen above 67 degrees yet.

Im no turbo expert but 5 psi on that turbo would be around 7 on the t25 So I say go for it but I would recomend ss turbo lines to make your life eazy! Just rember my pic or print it out and put it on your dash when you think about turning up the boost It been almost 100 degrees here in tampa bay And still no A/c for me N I gotta Drift N Drag race in this heat!
