Yeah I did it with my car. Basically the distribuitor and intake manifold (if you care about emissions) need to be swapped. I couldnt tell ya about the ECU though because I used a standalone EMS.

We have done this with a few of the crate motors that have been installed in customer's cars. The factory ecu has been used most of the time, without any problems.

That is what I am in the process of doing now. I bought a 96 motor with heads, timing chain, oil pump, valve cover and complete intake. The bottom end appears to be exactly the same. The head is slightly different and uses a different valve cover. The intake is also slightly different. The intake off my old engine uses butter fly valves but the new one does not. I plan on using the old intake and everything else that came with my old engine.

If using the head off of a S14 you will need the valve cover as well.

You will have to use the matching timing covers also. The edges are slightly different on the driver's side of the head.

Actually the valve cover came with mine as well as the timing covers. I guess I am lucky because I didn`t know that I needed those parts when I bought the engine.

I do have a question on my old S13 intake it has butter fly valves inside the intake. I would think would block some of the air at WOT. On the S14 it does not. I am wondering if I could use the S14 intake?

you can take out the butterfly's, or if you don't care anymore about emissions you should be able to use the S14 manifold.
