I'm thinking about going KA-T in the S13 with an S14 Ka and I was curious if anyone was running any auto KA-T's. How does it handle the power? Are there any issues with the transmission below 250hp, as I plan for lower HP levels just to drive around when I'm working on the S14. I'm looking for low 200's if that, just some boost to spruce her up a bit. Thanks in advance, Glenn.

Auto transmission will be fine for what you want.

You would be smart to add a transmission cooler though if your going turbo, more hp more heat for the transmission.

I'll be doing a GT28 bottom mount over winter on my auto vert. Should be fun I'm also considering a paddle shifter.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I know the auto's are kinda beefy, but I wasn't sure how much they could actually handle. I think they used this version trans in almost all of the rear-wheel drive platforms if I'm not mistaken.

I would say go for it. I think it can handle it. But as mentioned, I'd get a transmission cooler as I've heard that heat is the number one killer of auto trannys.

i asked this same question a while back and the results were positve. from what i've learned the auto transmission in a s14 ka is the same from the n'a z32 zx. the z32 stock is around 220hp at the crank. and i've seen people mod auto z32s to push around 300 hp. so if that transmission can hold up then the ka should definitly be fine for what you looking for. an upgraded oil cooler kit would be good insurance. i'm still undecided on turbo or supercharger myself, i like both ideas but within the next 3 months i'll make my decision. but i'm staying auto too. but if you do your set up first let me know how it turns out!
