on a bottom mount T2 flange. Everyone is tellin me that the T2 won't flow enough to support 450-500whp on the SR. Is 400whp all you can get out of a T2 on the SR? Has anyone actually tried it yet? I really want 450-500whp but I don't think it is worth spending another $2500 for a top mount setup, but I don't want a big turbo with a restrictive flange that's laggy as hell either???

the main problem is the turbine becomes restrictive. Another the internal waste gate won't hold steady high pressure and it would spike.

The only way to make 450hp on a t2 bottom is to have a external wastegate welded to the stock cast manifold or a custom manifold.

a wastegate is a funny thing. see a wastegate's job is to lower boost by re-routing the exhaust around the turbo. so if you are running high boost you are effectively using the wastegate less. there for a small wastegate is perfectly fine at higher levels of boost. but if you have a monster turbo and are trying to run low boost. then you need a bigger wastegate to keep the turbo spinning slower. because you need to flow more out of it. i was running a gt3076rwg in my car at 18lb with no problem. never had it dynoed so not sure on the power number. so no you dont need a external to run that setup

We've got a 3076wg now....up from a 2871r....both bottom mount. He is right about the restriction

however....we made 400whp easily with the 2871 and the 3076 feels about 450-475ish compared. We haven't hit the dyno yet but we had an s13 with 526whp so we know what it feels like.....

Well actually his title is 3071(wg)

the wg part of the part number is a reference for internal wastegate.....and in his initial post he did ask for T2 flange

ok it's been like almost a year since i've posted on here. just been too busy. here is a like of a thread of mine zerothread?id=287823i haven't done much since to the car. just pulled out the engine to give it a check since the built. after that i'll be boostin around 22-24 psi too.

small wg will do but the main problem is u will get boost spike alot more then if u had a bigger wg. u will have a more consistent boost with a bigger wg. i have the 41mm tial wastegate and just works fine.I will put up a new thread of my built and give some new dyno numbers. i'm shooting for 450-500whp and a 10s 1/4mile run on slicks.
