Hey guys, anyone running this tire size?

I just got the truck and the oem tires size was replaced by the previous owner with 245-70-16's which are still on the truck and have about 75% left. I just don't like the tire...they are Geo-Trac's which I never even heard of.

I want to get a set of BFG A/T's

Thanks,
Vin

Stock is 255/65-16 so this tire is slightly oversize so your speedometer is slightly slow, gearing a bit higher, slightly less torque, RPMs slightly lower, and possibly slightly better gas mileage. The GeoTrac looks like an OK highway/all purpose tire. I didn't take time to read the reviews.

The T/As will be loud and less highway friendly. I'd stick with what you have unless you just have to have the off road look (or you really are going off roading).

Thanks for the reply Jerry. Do you know if the size will actually fit though?

hi, I am late to this, but it might help someone else. You are asking about a "1 size up" change, and that almost never causes any issues on any vehicle. the 255's are just .7" taller, so you are looking at just about 2% increase in height, which means speedo will be off by 2mph at 100mph. Odometer will be show 2 miles less than actual travel for every 100 miles...in other words, negligible change. The tires fit on the same size rims.

The T/A is not a great tire, and doubt if it is as good as the Geo-Trac. The best deal you probably get on a tire for your vehicle is the Firestone Destination LE, which is an improved Destination model, and is the highest rated tire in almost any comprehensive survey.

I ran 255/70-16 General Grabber AT2s

No fitment issues other than a slight rub when reversing and turning full lock.

I have an 04 Pathfinder SE. Stock springs stock shocks, stock everything. It has 140k miles on it. I'm running Toyo open country AT2's 255-70-16 with absolutely no problem at all. I did however take off my front mud flaps before having the tires put on, which was really easy. If you can turn a screw driver and socket wrench you can take them off no problem. Each flap is held on with two 10 MM bolts and a two phillips head screws.

Going up a size really improved the look of the vehicle.
