Ever since I finished my SR swap, I have been running EXTREMELY rich (I am getting NO gas mileage, something in the neighborhood of 10-12 MPG on stock boost, any my hydrocarbon readings at emissions were off the charts)...There's just no way around it, I am running rich...to the point where I think my engine even slightly floods at high revs..

So I've been reading around, and I can't help but notice the results people have gotten by disconnecting the wastegate and letting the little T25 run free. So today I tried it.

MY GOD DOES IT PULL!! I really can't believe it... :ylsuper

I guess my question is...how bad is it to do this??? I know it's supposed to be way passed my turbo's efficiency range, but from a launch, I spike at about 15 lbs, then drop and hold steady at between 10 and 12 lbs.

If I'm already rolling, and, for example, I drop it into third and go, I jump to almost 20 psi, but only for a split second, then holds steady at about 14.

I didn't really know what to think so I hooked everything back up to play it safe for now....what you guys think???

By the way...I show no signs of detonation what-so-ever. In fact, the car has a much smoother powerband and runs better like this than on stock boost....I can still smell the rich exhaust!! WTF??

you might have a torn or leaky lower injector Oring, I had the same problem when I swaped my 555's in.

The extra boost really isn't going to hurt your motor as much as your turbo. As long as you don't plan on keeping that turbo for very long (say 2 months maybe) it's not THAAAAAT bad. But you are running on the ragged edge of your fuel system (and I hope your running a front mount). Otherwise just do the 'el cheepo' boost controller and stick like 3 vacume T's in the line going to the actuator, that should give you like 13 or so PSI to play with.

Yea, I have the Blitz LM kit, with Blitz downpipe, and Blitz Nur Spec exhaust, also the Walbro 255LPH fuel pump.

Don't know, never ran a cat with the SR. I went straight to test pipe.

Well with no cat your HC are going to be off the charts, running ritch or not. If you find the level I did get numbers off another person who emission tested their sr with no cat and had 8.26 gmp HC, 68.8 CO, and 335 CO2.

These are my emissions numbers that I posted in the general forum, however, I was at 339.7 CO2, not 335.

Also keep in mind that I did this on stock boost, not with open wastegate.

Why are you so worried about emissions? The engine is already illegal.

I am worried about emissions because if I fail then I cant keep my car. However, I just ran today and I passed with flying colors

Yeah i read that. Congratulations on passing, but I'm not sure if you guys have the visual inspection test or not...here in CA if you have some knowledgeable guys doing your emissions test for you I'm sure your car is not going anywhere soon as soon as they start looking for the emissions equipment in your vehicle.

I'm sure you were lucky. But like I said congratulatioins on the tail pipe part.
