Hey guys, I was just wondering, how does the factory CD player hook up to the factory radio?

Does it just use the DIN connector or are there other harness involved?

There is nothing available on the internet on this subject or any back side pictures of the factory cd player.

BTW, my factory tape deck looks like this one, except it doesn't say BOSE.

Yes, I am. It's a plug and play. Everything's there under the dash. I used to have a single din CD player looking similar to one in your pic, but upgraded to Nissan in-dash 6 CD changer. Basically, it's the same as far as installation goes. Just plug black cable from CD player to radio and radio will control CD player after that.

Went through your thread, 2007 I think, on NICO. :P

You're using the B8182-C9964,correct?

I was thinking of grabbing that if I could find it for cheap. What's that socket for on the bottom right corner?

Thanks.

That is correct. There's one part which was made poorly from the factory, so I had to replace it. It's a very common problem with this CD changer. Once it's replaced, it'll hold up for a long time. Something to consider if you are looking into this CD changer. Bad part is a rod with a tiny gear. I got the all the info from Pathfinder forums.
Anyway, the socket is for the power I believe. CD player initialize it right after I connect a plug to that socket.

Hmm...my factory deck only has a 6 pin DIN, while yours has a 8 pin DIN, I guess it won't work.

I didn't find any other harnesses in the radio pocket...I doubt it'll work with mine <_<.

The factory single CD player takes up a whole DIN? Why would you want that? Lol.

Some of us don't want flashy lights.

That's it. I just can't take flashy lights from aftermarket system.

I was thinking just an empty pocket so you have more storage.

There are plenty of aftermarket decks that aren't too flashy, but whatever floats your boat man. I won't jack your thread. :dblthumb:

This is the s13 OEM radio.

Back side looks like this. Yes, it has 8 pins.

This is the back side of the CD changer.

You plug this to the radio.

If you have 6 pin plug on the back side of radio, it's not going to work. OEM radios are so cheap on eBay, so you can find one easily.

I'm using a 98 Altima stereo. It requires the S14 male Radio harness.

This is a great info. I was wondering about this particular CD player. Yeah, people usually get rid of OEM stereos for cheap, so you can have clean OEM look easily.

I remember when my car looked that clean on the inside. But the tape deck didn't work, so I upgraded, and so began my flashy light journey.
The altima deck looks nice, but sunken too far- I wonder if it could be shimmed outward?

I don't think it's sunken. It appears to be that way in the picture. Compare it with mine.

True, it might just be the shadow. But I think it would look better if it were a bit more flush- the look of the Altima deck seems more in place when its flush, whereas the 240 units look fine sunken- they are clearly an addition rather than an integration.
