I just picked up my versa today and will get to installing the radio this week. I already have Boston Acoustic 6 1/2's components and Im wondering if anyone knows how the pillar covers come off and what kind of tweeters will fit behind there. Also where have people located the crossovers for the components. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just had a guy call me up to do an install, and what I found you may like / dislike...

1. The tweeter holes for the tweeters are too small for ANY aftermarket tweeter. You will either have to dremmel it down, or wait for a custom piece.

2. There is PLENTY of room on the door for the component 6.5" sub (opposite the tweeters, but the crossover will have to either go into a custom fit behind the plastic spacer in the door or behind the dashboard.

3. Taking everything off is a sinch. I'll post pics up when I can take them...

I need to get my camera back to get those pics for you, but in the meantime, let me tell you how to remove the door panels:

1. Pull off the handle in the door by pulling upwards and that should expose two screws.

2. Unscrew those screws and keep the safe!

3. The door panel pulls right off from there.

You should see how to remove the tweeter mounts directly after taking off the door.

Also, I did install the speakers, just had to use a dremmel and a saudering iron to melt a custom bracket to the door. Worked really well, and amped components sound absolutely amazing in this tiny car!!!

There's room for bigger tweeters, you'd just have to customize the area a bit. I may get around to new tweeters this summer if I have any money left over after I buy my rims and whatnot, so I'll keep you updated if you don't get to it before I do.

If you replace the tweeters, try and replace the wiring as well, the gauge wire that they put in the versa is just big enough for about 30 W rms without stretching out the power and causing very mild interference. My best suggestion is to use 14 or 16 gauge speaker wire - to the tweeter use 16 or 18, but only if you plan to amp it.

I never really recommend nore do I install 14 gauge for mids and highs for installs unless they are going for true SQ, or they specifically ask for 14 or higher, anything higher than 14 I charge extra.
