yeah man the starter is a pain, iactually did use that method of bangin the starter a little and this was working but i gues the starter just got to the point where it was done this last time banging it just didnt work at all so thats why i had to tow it, i didnt think it was going to be such a headache but damn i had no idea.
so i bought a fresh starter and i start to look at how im gonna take of the starter and at first i thought i was going to have to take off the headers cus there wasnt any space to wrench and when i leaned towards doing this i didnt even want to start taking of the headers so i went under the car and decided to go a different direction so i figured anither way which was alot eazier still hard but much less of a headache than the other way so to make the story shot this is what i had to do
take off the tension rod, remove that whole metal plate that hold the tension rod from the bushing i forgot what is called, loosen up the ac belt, take off all the ac compressor bolts and remove the ac compressor from its location just had to move it so i could get space wher ide be able to stick a long extension from there and all the way back to the starter bolts, so yeah this worked long extension, a swivel and a 14 mm socket and the bolts came off at this point i was happy but hten i realized the starter was way to big to even pull it out then (frustration) i had to bend a small aluminum shild that sits on top of the motor mount and this actually gave me enough space to remove it.
but wait you cant just take it out straight u have to rotate the starterclockwise and play around with it so finally i got it out and to put it in well do the same all over..............................I HOPE MY STARTER DOESNT GO OUT IN A WHILE cus its a headache to replace
