My stock headunit is crapping out, it keeps throwing error's at me, and when it does play, it plays as if the CD were scratched, even when they look perfect, so I know I need a new headunit regardless, but have been thinking of putting together a system for a while.

Honestly, I'm not looking for a system that is going to turn heads when I drive by, and I don't want something people a few cars down, or people a few blocks down to hear. All I want is a little more bass, and and to be able to be a little louder before it gets distorted.

I have 6.5's all the way around, all coxails.

Anyway here is what I've been looking at:

Headunit: http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

Speakers: http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

Sub: http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

The only problem now is finding a proper amp for those 4 speakers and that sub. Then again, if I could find a perfect amp, for that sub, and these speakers:

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

That would be great.

So could someone point me out a good amp for each scenario?

The HU + Type-R speakers only.The HU + Type-S speakers only.The HU + Type-R speakers + Type R sub.The HU + Type-S speakers + Type R sub.

I just won't want to overpower and blow something, it doesn't have to be Alpine, but something on the same level, something not under powered or over powered, but also won't crap out on me and die.

Thanks!

I bet the guys in the CAR AUDIO forum would love to help you.

Just so you know, "overpowering" your speakers is a turn of the knob away. Buy a bigger amp than you need and turn it down when your speakers start to distort. Pushing an amp to its limits will greatly reduce its life. Same goes for everything but electronics tend to wear out faster than drivers when pushed at 100%. Don't believe me, check out any home theater powered sub. They will typically have a 5yr warranty on the driver and a 1 or 2 yr warranty on the amp.

Ack, didn't see that forum.

Is there a way to move this topic over there, or should I just let this one die and make one over there?

Hmm, the mods might move it. Until then, I say we whore this one up!

Are you looking for a one system amp (5-channel) or more versatility like 2 amps (1 for mids and highs and the other for the sub)?

I think JL amplifier has a good 5 channel amplifier that can give you what you need. Not too much power on the sub and just enough for the mids and high.

If you want to go the 2 amplifier route, I'd say check out the old PHOENIX Gold Titanium series amplifiers. Can't go wrong with those.

Okay someone else pointed me to this amp:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_368.html

And this amp:

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

Which one would be best if I ran the 9847 HU, type-R speakers all around [4], and 1 Type-R sub? Or is there a better amp suited for it? Personally, I only want one amp, I really don't want two. And at what point should I be worried about battery drain and stuff?

And honestly, I don't know crap about audio.

What that 50x4w or whatever, or even what wires to run or anything. Hell, I don't even know how to hook up my HU or speakers, much less an amp or sub. Anyone know any good spots in the Bay Area to have it all done at?

Bump...?

If I got this:

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

And this:

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

[2 Pairs]

What would be a good amp, if I JUST got those?

In reference to ^

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls...in=10

Would that be good for just those 4 speakers and HU? Not under or over powered?
