I am sure its been done. Is there a write-up? no.

Most swaps require the usual... beat your trans tunnel to fit it, fab mounts, Figure out exhaust piping, get custom drive shaft, wire it up and run it, then tune if necessary.

Depending on the swap oil pans need to be fabbed to work with the steering rack/differential.

i have the tunnel cut out already and the motor in the garage, but im not sure which way to go to fab it for mounts. i was kinda hoping to use a bolt in s-10 kit, possibly a front mount plate. i'm not a welder so i was hoping the kit would work.

Thanks

Okay you cut the tunnel which makes somethings easier.

I have no Idea about the s10 kit, do not know what is included in this.

If you don't weld then you are definitely needing someone with skills.

the only way to fab a mount is to test fit the motor in the bay and figure out what the difference in stock mount placement and where the mounts on the motor line up. Then figure how to mount it, whether you just need a bracket or cut off the old mounts and makes new one.

Around here I would just go to Pungo Off-road with my 720 and tell them I want to climb skyscrapers and they make it happen. Maybe you have a place around you knowledgeable in custom automotive fabrication.

You can get bolt in mounts for a chevy V8 into the PL620 truck. I"ve done or been involved with well over 500 datsun swaps and thousand of others. No cutting of the fire wall or major cutting of the radiator core support is needed. Headers are also available. Look for the May 1977 issue of 1001 TRUCK & VAN IDEAS Car Craft magazine had an article called Chev It, in the late 70's For some pics goto http://www.photobucket.com/V8Datsun

This was a comon swap many years ago. the engine kit came with a fiberglass firewall relacment piece with trans and motor mounts.I had a 4 wheel drive conversion from LOW MFG. in Asusa Ca.. The same motor mount kit was used for the 231 buick V6.I bought a second kit ,NOS, just for the headers. I still have firewall and motor mounts. these mounts would be easy to duplicate. they bolted directly too the datsun bolt holes.

The original V8 PL620 swap kit did not require you to cut up the firewall. Numerous Low and others, 4wd conversions had this V8 Chevy conversion. Not only was there 2wd headers, also 4wd fender well headers. The engine adapters bolted in. Originally came out in 1973. The V6 installations required either a welded up oil pan or major rework of the crossmember. These bolt in kits are again available. You will need to do a slight modification for drag link clearance to get the engine down at the right height.
