Anyone predict that the 350Z would win the Ultimate Street Car challenge?

I know I would have thought that the skyline would have won - I mean it would have if it didn't break but it still lost. Chen has one twice now with cars that are surprisingly close to stock. I'm starting to wonder if all this modding we do can be counter productive... not that it will stop me. :D

Anyway, those that don't know, the ultimate street car challenge is a contest for just that held by the staff of SCC.

Any thoughts on it?

I guess it says a lot for the MILLIONS of dollars that the car companies spend on R&D. They cartainly have an eye on saving money to cut production costs and increase profit margins.... but they invest A LOT of their resources on developing reliable cars that can withstand some abuse. Obviously performance will be slightly sacrificed in the name of saving money.. but it is still in the best interest of the company to make a good solid stock car.

It's not hard to imagine this happening. The 350Z is a great performing car and techologically modern in just about every sense. The fact that the car is not uber-modified helps it take on those tests that are more real world(smog, grandma and mileage). Many people who enter tend to be those that do everything to the extreme. And the people vote for this as well. But this isn't the Ultimate Race Car Challenge. If it were, the three test parameters above could be thrown out and the dynamics of the competition would change dramatically.
