Double drop D? I have inklings, but what would that be?
Drop D is great for heavy songs, true. I've been writing a lot of heavy songs lately, so maybe that fuels my fascination. It could also be that the first song I ever learned (and thus my first real taste of fun) was in Drop D, and I thus have an affection for it...
Writings songs is great fun. I've recently discovered that a friend of mine (who just picked up guitar, note that he's been a trumpet player since 6th grade... I played alto sax from 5th-9th) car write great melody, and play it too. I, on the other hand, write good background (I refer to it as harmony, though that term gets skewed a lot) and lyrics, though I'm sure he has some lyrics up his sleave. I love nothing better than dropping a bridge and a couple fingers down and rocking away all over the fret board. So he and I make a good team, we're still trying to organize some point where we can hang out and try to put some stuff together. I just finished recording the lyrics of two songs and the music of one of those in the past couple of hours. I ought to go to bed, but I need to finish mixing... gar... Anyways, be on the lookout for Grey Sheep, maybe I'll share some of the stuff on K-Lite once I get more together and ask for opinions (note that songs are recorded in a small room in my house with nothing but an Ibanez electric and a computer with Goldwave, which I highly recommend, as it allows for pretty large amounts of editing, and it's free for the trial version, which has a command limit, but it just tells you to stop doing commands, which you can restart the program to get rid of or just keep clicking "OK"). I digress... I'll check out that link and this "double drop D"...
