That is not that bad? What kind of driving was the 231.90 miles? HWY or City or combo?

I get 18-21 mpg city/combo driving and am happy with that

+1 my gas milage closely follows this... as long as im not using shells new nitrogen enriched gas... i was using it for a month and kept wondering why my gas milage was sucking... then one day the power was out at the shell station usually go to... so i had to get BP gas... and my milage shot up back to normal... i was like WTF!!!

my 2005 G35x seems to like BP or Chevron... my point is change gas brands and see what happens...
This just happened to me this week. I ran out in the middle of no where and the only place close by was a Pioneer (Canadian) station. My friend always uses them and had nothing bad to say about them so I filled up on 91. A couple of KM's down the road and the car didn't seem as "peppy", then the rest of the tank I noticed I had to give it more gas going up hills and acceleration from a stand still and while rolling was sluggish. Then I noticed how bad of mileage I was getting and it ended up being almost 75 KM less than normal on 3/4 of a tank!

I ended up filling up around the 1/8 of tank mark and before I reached my house I noticed the life coming back to my car as she became her normal perky self. Note to self, avoid Pioneer gas stations from now on.

What is WaWa?

I guess I'm happier with that vs 14 mpg. Maybe the new spark plugs helped? Driving this tank was more along the lines of 70% hwy/30% city.

WaWa's are convience stores that sell gasoline. Similar to 7-11 They are able to sell gasoline for a few pennies less because they charge higher prices on some food items. They are always very busy and pump a lot of gas.

I buy Shell gasoline 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time I buy Mobil. I track my mileage every tank. Maybe I should try Mobil for a month and see if there is any difference. The G has been more consistent year round than my old Neon was. The Neon had a seasonal variance of about 7 miles per gallon. The G only varies by about 2 mpg at most.

Edit: My overall MPG is 20.5. I drive 80% highway.

I use a high volume Conoco/Chevron/Texaco. I'm not picky with brand. Normally whatever is closer/cheaper at the time I buy it

+1 yep car feels sluggish and everything... now my G has life again... no more shell gas for me... that just proved to me thats their is a difference in gas between the brands and its not just marketing hype...

Thats funny me and my Friend was just talking about that I always Use Sunoco. I fill Up every 7days he been us shell he fill up every 9 days. We work at the same place and he live a block from my house. I drive 15mi to work that 30mi day.WTF I filled up with shell and I got 2 Extra days. The Only driving I did was to work and Home for that week.

Tip: Ask a Gas Station Manager you should know the Difference between Private and corporation.when you are Private you can take on any brand name of Gas eg(Shell, sunoco,Mobil, and Gulf). Now you have the name does mean you have to buy the Gas from the corporation. you can just go unbranded with Additives. The Addivites to bring up the Qualit of the Gas so the Engine doesn't ping. Now Corporation Run gas Staion Have good Gas but you really can't Make Money cause you are under Contract and Have to give them a Precentage Every month. Just remember there is only (87,93,100 octane) anything in between is bleended at the pumps.

97- full 89- %80 Regular- %20 93 mix with it(the money makers)91- %70 Regular- %30 93 mix with it(the money Makers)93- is Pure100- is Prure (All profit if you need it you pay )

REally? 91 is blended at the pump word!

Couple places in town sell 100 octane I have ran it in the G made no diff I could feel. I'm guessing that the knock sensers added all the timing they could add and it probably the same amount as true 93 octane.

I mean aren't you guys with the X a little annoyed with the supposed 24 MPG highway mileage that you're suppose to get.

My wife has an 04X and I change everything regularly. Just changed the spark plugs, transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, differential fluid, transmission fluid from the matic-J to the matic-S, synthetic oil change, cleaned the air cleaner, PVC valve, inflated tires to 38psi and cleaned the throttle body.

After doing all of this 2k miles ago, she went from 20mpg on the highway to about 21 and she is a granny driver. She keeps it in the 70-73mph range.

Never once has she seen anywhere near 24mpg claimed by Infiniti.

24MPG may be possible if you filled the tank and didn't stop to refill until you reached the 1/4 mark.Any stop and go usage kills your overall MPG. So does cold weather.I'd be willing to bet that if a 6 speed manual and a G35X drove side by side at 75MPH for 300 miles non stop the 6 speed would have the better result
