I don't think he's been fired (or has quit) yet. The media has been saying he threw a punch at an asst. producer over being late with his dinner. There must be more to the story than that.

I'll hire him. I could probably afford about 15 seconds of his time, not including travel expenses.

Ha. Great minds think alike. I'm wondering if the asst. producer might have provoked him and the whole incident was wildly overblown by the media. I think the BBC management is acting far more stupidly for not airing the remaining TG shows for the season. They're not only pi$$ing off the fan base for their highest rated show, they're also reducing their ad revenue. A idiotic way to punish a presenter.

Welcome to BBC's world. If they decide it's time for a show or presenter to go, then that's it. Just ask any fan of the original Doctor Who program.

I think Clarkson should leave the BBC altogether. He has enough following. If he, Hammond, and May made another show, I'd watch it. I don't care what it's called, or who is broadcasting it. Hell, crowdsource it. They would be financed for years in the first week.

Agree, the trio has great chemistry together. Perhaps they should all leave BBC replace the TG-US presenters.

Odds on that Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will all leave BBC

Show just wouldn't be the same without Jezza, Captain Slow, and the Hamster.

You mean actually GIVE celebrities money directly? That's just a silly thought. Then I'd have to change my worldview to include them as people who actually work for a living; i.e. people who do things they don't want to do and don't enjoy for money.

Jeremy Clarkson approached BBC bosses about 'fracas'

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson initiated the BBC investigation which prompted his suspension, after he informed BBC bosses of the alleged "fracas".

BBC News understands that the star phoned BBC head of television, Danny Cohen, to report the incident. Producer Oisin Tymon, with whom the altercation took place, is not believed to have filed his own complaint.

Interviews are expected to be held with the star and other parties next week, and the show has been taken off-air. Clarkson has expressed regret over the incident, which his co-presenter James May labelled "a bit of a dust-up". Jeremy Clarkson: "I am very grateful to everybody".

An online petition calling for the star's reinstatement - set up by political blogger Guido Fawkes - has accrued more than 800,000 signatures since Tuesday. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Clarkson said he is "very grateful to everybody" who has signed the petition.

Top Gear is one of the BBC's most popular and profitable TV shows, with an estimated global audience of 350 million. Its success is largely attributed to the contentious host, who has appeared on the show since 1988. Top Gear is presented by James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson.

Politicians on all sides have weighed into the affair, with Prime Minister David Cameron - a friend of Clarkson - saying he hoped the incident could be "sorted out". "It's a great program and he's a great talent," he said. A lawyer for Mr Tymon said his client "intends to await the outcome of the BBC investigation and will make no comment until that investigation is complete".

Pre-emptive
Clarkson's approach to BBC bosses suggests he was trying to pre-empt any official complaint. The incident, at a Yorkshire hotel, is reported to have been witnessed by members of the public, as well as some of the production team.

The presenter, 54, was given what he called his "final warning" last May after claims he used a racist word during filming. He later apologised for the incident which, although never broadcast, had been leaked to a tabloid newspaper.

Last year, Top Gear was also censured by Ofcom for breaching broadcasting rules after Clarkson used a derogatory word for Asian people during its Burma special program. A further incident during shooting in Argentina saw the show's executive producer, Andy Wilman, brand 2014 an "annus horribilis" for his team.

Clarkson, and co-presenters May and Richard Hammond, are due to renegotiate their contracts next month.

This was 1999. I wonder if it's not some publicity thing.

Top Gear’ Presenter Jeremy Clarkson Calls Out BBC Executives

LONDON – “Top Gear” presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who has been suspended by the BBC for allegedly punching the show’s producer, has called BBC execs “f—ing b-stards.”

He added: “It was a great show and they’ve f—ed it up.”

Clarkson, who was speaking Thursday at a charity event in North London, appeared to suggest that he was about to be sacked. Watch the video below, which the Daily Mirror has secured.

As part of a charity auction, Clarkson said he would drive the winner around the “Top Gear” test track.

“So I thought I’ll go down to Surrey and I’ll do one last lap of that track before the f—ing b-stards sack me,” he said.

He added: “And I’ll drive somebody around in whatever I can get hold of. I’m sacked so it’s probably an Austin Maestro. So who knows? But anyway we will do one last lap of the ‘Top Gear’ test drive.”

“There was an 18-year waiting list to be in the audience of ‘Top Gear,’ but the BBC has f—ed themselves. It was a great show and they’ve f—ed it up. Tonight’s the night when you have the opportunity… I’ll be a bit tearful when I do it, but f— it, let’s do it.”

Support for Clarkson arrived Friday in the shape of right-wing blogger Guido Fawkes, who sent a petition to the BBC signed by almost 1 million people calling for Clarkson’s reinstatement. The petition was delivered by a man dressed as “Top Gear’s” racing driver, The Stig, who travelled to the BBC’s London headquarters riding on top of a tank.
