I emailed technosquare asking about an ECU reflash for the QR and VQ engines. Here is what they said:

"We need some ECUs and cars for R&D locally.Any idea?

Same here. I was actually there on Sunday.

Depending on how long... I'm more than willing also.

Wasn't this issue address many months ago; and we came to the conclusion that Technosquare was shady as hell?

I believe they didn't want to touch the CVT cars

For the guys near Torrence, here is what technosquare said....

Here is the basic process. We need the ECU box for 2 weeks to crack security code to download stockdata from it.Once we get data, we need the car on our dyno for test and tune.

We need to do this process for every ECU part number we can find.

We offer free tuning for testers.

SalesTechnosquare, Inc.

and i just emailed asking about the CVT vs Manual Transmission.

if they are willing to this i think people should jump on this. if they are giving free tune for the donor. i am trying to stay away from F/I and want to get as much out of my QR N/A...i am planning on getting b16 internals soon, so when i send my ecu for tuning (if they will do it for our cars) i will have them raise the rev limiter to 7000 RPM

no no like QR25 motor in the 2007+ sentra...it has a 7000rpm redline unlike the altima. it has differnt cams, pistons, and intake manifold. and they do fit in our altima, at least i think they do because many have put the new internals on the old sentre and worked

if the old cams, pistons, etc. are better in the sentras compared to the Altimas, why would anyone take the internals from the altima and put them in the sentra?

nismofool and blackandwhite...take one for the team....assuming you two have other cars you can use while the R&D is being done then this is awesome....i think with the cost of renting a car against what they are gonna charge for the ECU reflash to other people will pretty much break even. So either way you two can't lose...i just wish i lived there so i could jump on it

i'm not too far from Torrance (30 min drive?) and do have another car that i could lug around in the meantime... however... what is the exact process that needs to be followed for what's being mentioned here...

also, would there be a difference as mine is a sedan?

in order to be a part of the R&D you could either stop by technosquares headquarters in torrence just call up and make an appointment and say your interested in the R&D for the 2007-2008 Altima ECU reflash, or you could email them saying you want your car to be the R&D car for the VQ's....and no it doesn't matter if u have a sedan.

i would contact them further, but when i contacted them a long time ago they said they were only interested in the VQ 6mt. maybe dyno tuning the cvt would be too complicated and that was the whole reason everyone had a bad impression of them cause they weren't at the time even willing to try.

yea, but thats before the market grew for the altimas. i mean just a couple months ago all we had were intakes and exhausts....now (thanks to stillen and the guys that did the turbo's) we have much more for us...the market is growing and i think technosquare realized that

in person, noi did contact them though and they asked for cars for R&D which is obviously not a no...and i did say people are interested in CVT tuning not only manual tuning and that it would be a smart move for them to do CVT since most altimas are CVT. They didn't say no...

just an update, i called them today but didn't speak with a tech... they requested a call back later in the afternoon when the tech returns... unless he's one of them 3-hour-lunch techs

after a couple failed attempts at reaching him... i finally got through and spoke with one of the techs. He stated that they need a 6 speed first before the cvt... but he was very informative and we exchanged information. He has my name and number but i will be calling occasionally to check up on what's going on. he also asked that i call the dealership and get the ECU part # for my car so i plan on getting on that by week's end.

all in all it looks a bit promising but for the time being looks like the ecu flash on a VQ w/ cvt is gonna be put on a hold (he did however mention that he had a few 6 speeds that he was considering... so maybe it won't be a long a hold as we think).

i'll make sure to keep updating as events occur.

awesome, at least thats better than a flat out no we dont wanna do the altimas....but hey maybe in a few months we'll see an ECU reflash for us.Gauging interest is big and the more we all check up the faster things will be moving. thanks for the update
