I'm replacing my VCG and have been unable to find a DIY for it. I know how to do it, but I wanted to read up on it to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Anything else I should do while I'm at it?

There really is no need for a DIY I mean its extremely simple.

Just take off the valve cover, put the new one on. Then flip the valve cover over and put it back on the engine. Also if your replacing the spark plug gaskets as well, its the same thing. It shouldn't even take 15min.

Yeah, I figured. I have the VCG, the spark plug gaskets and those little half circle things. Just wondering whether to use any kind of silicone and if there is a specific torque for the nuts. And while I have the cover off is there anything else I should do in there? Thought I remember something about removing some kind of plastic guide or something like that.

you should not need any RTV or gasket sealant on the factory gaskets. They fit inside a groove on your valve cover. If they leak when they are installed that tells you something is faulty.

While the cover is off you could add in some rocker arm stoppers if you are a drifter, but other than that, its easy enough to take the valve cover back off when you need to do something.

Use RTV on the half moons... Mine was brand new nothing wrong and leaked, shop said you have to put it on there. All they do is nissan, and the FSM says the same thing.

Yeah, the half moons in there now have RTV, and that's what I did before when I had a KA
