Anyone know where the door lock timer is located on a 95Q?

Not under the center console. The harness is there but they have apparently relocated in this model. Frustrating..... ugh.

Check your factory service manual, it should tell you in there.

Car is locking itself with or whithout the keys in the ignition. Happens seemingly randomly with no discernable pattern. Might not do it for several days then does it twice in one day.

I should have replied earlier to this thread but there is no door lock timer shown on the location of electrical units or location of sensors pages of the FSM. As further proof I don't have one on my spare parts list and I've parted 3 Q's and not sold a door lock timer. So......

It could be the door lock actuator but could also be the power window amplifier which is part of a small communications computer (LCU) located in each door of the 94-96Q. Each of these is about a $100 part so if you're rolling in dough and willing to throw money at parts go buy both and be done with it. Or......Perform the self-diagnosis outlined in the electrical (EL) section of the FSM and hopefully narrow it down to one or the other. I'm leaning toward it being the door's LCU rather than the door lock actuator.

Below is a link to the electrical section of the FSM. Take off the el.pdf off the end and you have a link to the entire FSM. An explanation of the LAN self-diagnosis starts on page EL-76 and the Mode I on board diagnostics starts on page EL-78.

I think you'll eventually end up doing the Mode III diagnosis(EL-83), power door lock operation, also. The both diagnoses involve using a combination of the window lock switch, overhead light switch and rear defogger switch and waiting for the red/white door lights to start flashing. The built-in self diagnostics for this car is years ahead of its time and one of the reasons your 94Q cost $52k new. Read through all the pages (76-83) before starting so you understand the steps, some of which are timed. Enjoy the show.

Self diagnosis reveals normal operation. I'm just gonna carry a spare key and live with it. Chasing little gremlins can get very expensive. Hoped that someone on here would have a simple suggestion.

A lot of us have this particular gremlin - not a bit unusual for the G50. After the first few times, I've learned to take the key out before I shut the door.

Mine seems to do it more often in spring and fall - maybe something to do with frost or wide temp changes. I recall someone replacing a module, but I'm sorry that I can't remember which one it was.

I must say a lot of cars I have owned that had factory alarms installed did this. It did not matter. There is normally a sequence on the manual door lock and unlock to turn this off temporarily . So for instance you may open a passenger door from the inside or using key on passenger door from outside that may temporarily turn this feature off, but at some point when security is engaged then disengaged again with key fob, the feature will set itself. Some security systems allow you to auto lock in 30 second increments up to two minutes. I personally like the feature and have always kept a spare key in my wallet. One way I avoid this feature from engaging while detailing my car is to open more than one door.

Good luck with your situation.
