Since I'm looking for a new car, anyone know what happened to the 1992 Brabham Special Edition Q45A ?

zerothread?id=116023

I beleive 350zQ45a sold it last summer. Wouldn't it be great timing if the new owner got in over his head and was ready to sell it

Heheh, get in line, fella. It's on my list of what to do if/when I win the lottery - find the guy he sold it to, and make him an offer he can't refuse.

Mph, what a unique Q45a to have and treasure. I shoulda just bought it for the original $5000 he wanted.

I talked to the psycho who owned it... Heres some quick facts:

- It was never legally titled in the United States, the previous owner claimed that it was legally titled, however others say its not really possible in the state of arizona outside of a salvage title.- It had 35,000 origianl miles when sold.- It had R32 Skyline brakes- It was not a red car from the factory, it was a green car from the factory. You can see this in the engine bay pictures as the strut towers are green. Stillen painted the car with the new paint.- The owner had 17in 350Z wheels when sold, even though the car in the pictures has 18in OZ wheels (similar to mine)- Had a 1994 Q45 trans installed for some reason- POSSIBLY had a Z32 twin turbo differential installed, as the RPMs seemed like it had a 3.69 vs 3.54- chain guides were never done.- Extensive AC and brake work were done

The psycho that owned it listed it on ebay twice.. Got no bids first round, and then sold but was not purchaesd due to a deadbeat bidder (was an old guy which said it was not as described, which is not the truth)...

He sold it locally to a guy in AZ for around $4000, and only a few months later it was rear ended, and he said he thought it was repaired, but I cannot confirm that.. Whatever, the Brabahm Special Edition Q is essentially now worthless as it is no longer original..

You forgot to mention that some SCCA racer got ahold of it and installed a full cage. Then, the guy who owned it, took the front bumper off, and put a stock one on, and cut out the cage, since STILLEN didn't put it in.

A sad end to what could have been a real collectible.

Now it's no more than a tired Q with a few "pimped-out" goodies and minimal performance gains.

Honestly, I know I'll get flamed here but I always thought the car looked like a ratty POS and probably drove like one but I kept my mouth shut out of respect for the seller. Too much crap to deal with for me. "Stillen" is also not a name I worship as I think the products so are artificially overpriced that it insults the consumer with half a brain. Whoever bought that car would have had to put in some MAJOR work into making it a decent ride. The fact that the guides aren't even done???? Geez..I can go on and on here.

My only interest in that car was hoping it would be parted out. There, now...I said it, got it all out.

..Drew...

Now hold on, that car was a one-off special? Or there were a bunch of them?

Was it never officially sold here?

It wasn't "sold" it was basically given to Geoff Brabham by Infiniti (thus, no VIN).

Stillen outfitted it nicely, and after Brabham got rid of it, it went to Kryder Racing, where they used it for a season in SCCA (I believe).

It sat for WAY too long before being bought by a Phoenix Q enthusiast, who then decided to go a different direction (bought a Z33).

It's now owned by an unknown person.

Thats not actually true... It has a legit VIN number; i pulled it on the NISSAN FAST program, and it worked fine..... theres no carfax on it, since its never been titled.. but it DOES have a legit VIN.

Ah, thanks for the clarification Wes.

Still, there were issues with titling and registering it legally.

To title it I think you would have to get a Certificate of Origin (CO)...not sure where you'd be able to get it though.

I think the pictures that were shown are when it wasnt looking very good.. I saw the pictures after it was professionally details, and it looked fairly stunning.. Minus the damage to the impul body kit (which IMO should be removed), it was pretty nice.

I came so close to buying that car!! I had even made plans with Keith to have the car shipped to him so he could recharge the active system and(check it out for me, drive it) then ship it on to me when done. I even asked Hitman to check it out for me, bad idea at the time, that's how close I was to buying it. Our "little" friend told me that it could be titled since he did some paper work with it. I took him at his word. I had about $3500 together even after spending over $5000 on parts for my Q when I just got clobbered with more stuff and couldn't get the next $1500 together. He kept saying he had to sell it Quick because he was moving and I just couldn't do it.

Ahhh.... so close...

I was considering it too, then I bought the Maxima, the BMW, then sold both and got another Q, a clean and unmolested one, and pocketed the leftover cash.
