Today, I was minding my own business when a state trooper pulled me over. I wasn't speeding or driving recklessly so I figured it was something trivial. He told me the third brake light on my dad's truck was out, I was relieved. I gave him my license and registration and I was waiting for him to give me my stuff back and let me go. He came back and told me I had a GLS suspension on my license. :wtf2:

I didn't get any sort of suspension notice or anything like that in the mail, so I didn't even know I had a suspension on my license. The state trooper was a nice guy, he told me all the things to do to get it taken care of, but I'm still wondering how the hell this happened.

I got my license suspended for 30 days about a year ago. I got a ticket during the driver's probation period (right after you get your license). So I had to go to driver's improvement for that, which I did, and got that taken care of. I also got a speeding ticket the same year, but I went to court and paid for it. Since that time last year, I haven't been pulled over until today. Just wondering if anyone knows what a GLS suspension is. I'm assuming that it has something to do with Maryland's Graduated Licensing System, but I can't really find anything about it :gotme

hmmm, I've never had corrective lenses.... I'm going to crack some heads at the mva tomorrow and see what happens.

Yea, pulling me over for the third brake light was kinda dumb, it was on a truck too, so it was that stupid one thats at the top of the cab.... He wasn't really a douche about it or anything though, he was actually the best cop I've dealt with so far

Maybe a month or so ago?

Tommy, thanks for the link. I'm thinking it has to do with the full license. MD has this stupid thing where if you get a ticket on a provisional, then you have to wait a year from the date of the ticket to get your full license (you can drive from 12am-5am). I'm really hoping the whole suspension thing is for my full license, meaning my provisional is still valid. School is about to start....

So apparently "they sent out" a notification last september and I was supposed to turn in my license last october. Since I didn't know, they took my license today and its suspended for 30 days. Conveniently, school starts in about 10. yay. All of this for going 5 over the limit LAST YEAR. I hate this state.

Dayum, man, that sucks. You can't get a permit that allows travel between home/work and home/school for the duration of the 30 days?

nope. Whats even more stupid? I found out that every ticket you get on a provisional gives you a 30 day suspension. what kind of nonsense is that?

Yea, my friend got his suspended for half a year, he rices around all the time. I'm glad its not longer than 30 days, but it still sucks because its complete bs.

Wow. I have a buddy who got caught (1) with an oustanding bench warrant (2) driving a car that wasn't his without valid tags (3) on a suspended license with (4) weed in the vehicle. He showed up to court and they granted him work/school driving restrictions.

Maryland is certainly not merry land.
