i don't know about the auto, but here's an interesting fact for people keeping it real with three pedals:the 89-90 240 tranny and the 90's hardbody transmissions have the same case number, and the same gear ratios listed on the books. however, note the fifth gear ratio in the 240 is larger; the only difference, on paper anyway. i know the 240 cruises at a higher top speed; that might be a feasable swap. any takers?

but is the blot pattern the same I know on the truck the starter is oposite I think the 240 starter goes from the block side into the trans and on the truck it goes through the bell housing on the trans into the block. or something like that

on both the 240 and the truck the starter goes from the block side and the bolts go from the block side except on the v6 truck the bolts go through the bell housing into the starter[which is still mounted from the block side.

Some guy in AZ told me that they looks exactly the same but not interchangeable. I don't know why are they interchangeable if they are exactly the same. Nissan dealer told me that they have different PN for both.

Does anyone know if the hardbody ka24 ever used one of the bigger transmissions like the z31 or z32 turbo? I'm trying to find a bellhousing to fit the stronger FS5R30 transmission in my 240sx.

do the 4x4 share the same tranny as well? Maybe they just added a transfer case???? Are these things pretty stout?

They are the same trans however the rear case is different. Instead of a tail housing it has the transfer bolted there.
