Well, my quest for finding new seats has begun.... Ive found its gonna be more economical for me to find a set of take out seats, rather that to have them recovered and restuffed..... There have been some on ebay, but they usually go really quick.....

If I had the money, Id go for some suade inserts...... :D

I need tan seats for a 94 Q, heated...... Any ideas???

If you are looking for seats, how did you find out that it is more economical to get take outs? I'd be amazed if you can find what you are looking for in any condition that would compare to a skillfully repaired set.

Well I have been checking ebay regularly, and a few months ago there were a set of seats (tan, not heated) for 350-400 for the entire set..... Mind you, I got a quote to get just the 2 front seat bottoms redone and its gonna cost $463.....

And again on ebay a week or so ago there was an entire set (tan, heated) for 500.....

Someone just said they were parting out a 94 Q...I think it had tan interior. The only problem with replacement seats would be the condition. You would have to get pretty lucky to find some in good shape. I'll keep my eyes out for ya.

Same one...sorry about that. If you see some parts on ebay with the same color interior, contact the seller and see if they have seats in good condition. When they part them out, the seats are usually the last things to come out. Just a suggestion.

Tan and white dyes are the worst for wear/cracking ,...... black and blue then 90-92 gray are the best lived.

i agree with dennis, my 90 grey seats are nearly perfect. probably a combination of the first owner garaging the Q (i suspect, anyway), conditioning the leather regularly (maybe), or what dennis said about some dyes doing better over the long haul.

I was gonna go for em, but they were taken 3 days into a 7day auction.....

However, youll need to get all new seat switches!!!

How often does that happen???? I didnt have time to negotiate with the higher authorities.... These things take time!!!!

How are the backs to your seats? If it's just the bottoms that need to be repaired, I think I'd still go with new leather vs. 7 or 8 year old (at best from a 1996) leather. In salvage yards around here there is absolutely no effort expended for interior parts. I've seen guys take the seats out and leave them on top of the car... nothing like splitting mildewed leather in the sun.

I'm just kidding with you Wes, of course. My car is getting to look real good, and the better it looks, the worse the seats look.

I used to have a hookup on hides, wouldn't it be cool to use "King Ranch" baseball glove leather like the King Ranch F150's????

Im going to investigate my other options... I think my grandpa had an offer to have his whole car redone in leather (from cloth) for 500, in a little shop in a little town out in the boonies!

Ill check with him!

Not the same color as the KR, 911/Q45, but the grade of the hide, matched to the oem color.

Gets softer with use, very thick, to each his own.

Does anyone know how much suede would cost... I thought about having the ridged portion of the seats converted into suede.....

Problem is suede is it causes your clothes to bunch up.

Gee, I knew there was a reason no OEM offered suede seats (except maybe Cadillac, and they don't count, unless you're Elvis or a pimp.)

Wow, I had no idea people felt so strongly about interior finishes. But, yes, suede would suck, it would get smashed & shiny real quick from all the butt friction of sitting & spinning.
