Will unplugging the clip on the negative terminal ( with the 4 wires ) in the picture disable the variable voltage control system. I want 14 volts from the alternator instead of constant 12.9 volts.

If your alternator is only putting out 12.9 v then it needs replacing. A properly functioning alternator should be putting out 13.7-14.3 all the time .

It puts out 14 volts when it detects a load, when i turn the windsheild wiper on it jumps to 14 volts. But i need it to be 14 volts without having to trick the ecm

I see you have an 18 so maybe things have changed, but I’d be suspicious that the alternator wasn’t functioning correctly.

The voltage regulator inside the alt sets the charging system voltage. Nowadays the ECM is used as overhead to control that, it cuts back on charging at times when the alt is too hot and to save gas mileage and smooth up engine idle. If the vehicle is running fine with no problems accept it, all you will do is mess up expensive things.

The overall voltage setpoint is generally set in the main chip in regulator. That point is modified by the ECM as it sees fir, you will have to come up with quite a hack to override that. A 'tune' to change software could likely do it but $$$$$.

^ This.

Bottom line, everything runs through the ECU, so unless you're adept at hacking Nissan ECUs, you're gonna get the voltage that the alternator delivers.

I'm assuming here, but my guess is you're doing some car audio upgrades. In that case, you;re better off doing it the way it's always been done - with some capacitors.
