Anyone know how to clean a TPS on a 02 Spec V Sentra???????

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hey guys... I have posted some issues that I have been having under the title Any Ideas.. Does anyone know how to clean the TPS sensor on this car? I have removed the throttle body but I dont see any way of getting into the TPS sensor unless I drill out the 4 rivots that hold the cover on the TPS. Has anybody done this before?

Thanks

Here are a few pics of the TPS/ TB

Replied in your other thread, but I'll leave this one out there for more exposure.

Have you tried the Nissan Online Mechanic section of NICO?

I don't believe cleaning the TPS will yield anything at all.

I believe before I said that the car is surging.. but that's not right it is actually bogging. It feels like if you were to pull the E-brake a bit like it's wanting to kill the motor. The car will be running fine then all the sudden bog.. for a quick second.. then it's running fine then Bog. I also notice alot of times after I start the car it will bog at idle as well. I took the car to get gas today.. drove about 3 miles and it ran fine.. On the way back I had a couple quick bogs here and there. Sometimes the bogs are longer.. and sometimes it will even stall out the car, but when it stalls out the car is normally at idle.

I still think it's a fuel issue.

2 days ago I went to a local salvage yard and bought a used fuel pump/ assembly it was pulled from a 2004 spec v. i put it in and the car is still bogging. I posted a message earlier today on the Online Mechanic.. but havent heard from anyone yet. Do you have any other ideas, or things that I can Try?

Injector o-rings, bad TPS, dirt in the tank. The first would probably manifest itself in other ways too, though (possibly stalling, particularly right after filling up). The second you'd just have to replace and hope, though you could try using a voltmeter to see if it's reading right, but it may or may not show anything. The last of the three I've said several times, and even if the pump isn't actively clogged when you pull it, that doesn't mean it wasn't/isn't getting clogged under pressure

If the gunk is in the tank, no. It's not a powerful enough solvent, or at least doesn't remain in the tank long enough, to get through gunk there, so as soon as the pump starts up again, it pulls the tank gunk back on. Your injectors and lines are probably clear because of it, though.

Hey Nametakennow.. Do you know if the fuel pump in the Sentra specv runs constantly, or does only pump when it needs to. I pulled the pump last night and there was a little bit of crap in there so I decided to disassemble the pump assembly and use a shop vac to clear it out. The car ran great last night, and it ran really good all the way to work this morning.. about 25 miles or so and then it started bucking and bogging. Do you know if it would be possible to rap the whole pump assembly in some type of cheese cloth/ mesh to keep the stuff from getting sucked up? Just a thought.

It blows my mind that there's that much gunk in there to keep getting sucked up.

The pump runs only when the fuel line needs to reach proper pressure.

I can't find anything to see if someone's tried wrapping the fuel pump. Thing is, if you did the mesh might get clogged and you'd get the same symptoms anyway. You may be stuck doing a thorough cleaning of the whole tank.
